Is this an urban legend but I remember reading Ed Koch or Guiliani as NYC mayor would round up the city’s homeless and bus them up to Albany?

 

That's more than normal I think, but it's also important for people to distinguish what kinds of judges have been appointed because district court judges are nowhere near as important as appellate judges. Each presidential term there are about 100-150 district court judges nominated, and there's a reason they don't typically get that much attention. But appellate judges are able to actually affect the law.

Plus these days, the only people who tend to be seriously considered for a SCOTUS seat are appellate judges. Every SCOTUS member except Kagan was an appellate judge, and before Kagan, O'Connor was the most recent to not be one. Plus four of them (Thomas, Ginsburg, Roberts, and Kavanaugh) were on the DC Circuit

 

True...and I did see a story a few months back that claimed that most of the judges he was replacing were already conservative judges anyway

It’s incredible and disheartening he was ever up for it in the first place

 

This is so fundamentally shitty, and the level of pettiness on display by those at power in our country is absolutely chilling, horrifying and infuriating BUT, in trying to be shitty sadistic assholes, wouldn't this be a huge self own...??? Releasing detainees into sanctuary cities would be so good for the people being detained.
