Ah yes, Arrow Arrow R, my favorite band

Edit: The band is actually called Tyr apparently, would've taken me about a hundred guesses to get that. I was leaning towards AIR

I saw Tyr play with Ensiferum, Turisas, Eluveitie, and Suidakra about a decade ago and Tyr was one of the most boring bands I've ever seen live. Every other band was a ton of fun though.

Holy shit last time they came here there wasn’t even 40 people there and played the downstairs venue. Now they’re playing the 2000 cap upstairs?!!?

I had a discussion with my friend, i was wondering what the general opinion here would be.

Usually before concerts i would try and look at setlist.fm to see what the setlist would be. He said that it's dumb and it's like reading spoilers to a film before seeing it. I usually check the setlist beforehand when it's a band i'm not %100 familiar with and then i could do my homework and come ready for the concert.

Do you think it's the same as spoiling a movie? Do you look at the setlist before the show or will it ruin it for you?

i usually check setlists to figure out a) if they're playing something i'd want to see live and therefore go see them, or b)how long the set is and when i can leave

if i already have tickets to a thing i usually don't check

I hate not knowing the setlist. I always like to listen to the setlists a day or two before the show while I’m working. Especially when it’s not a band I’m familiar with.

If I’m on the fence about a show knowing the setlist can also help my decision. Like maybe the sets different from the last time I saw the band or they’re playing a deep cut I want to hear.

I want to know the setlist so I can learn the lyrics before hand, don't end up dissapointed when they play their worst songs, and also so I know what parts of the set I want to film.

I almost always look. It's either out of excitement or to do my homework on any songs I'm not familiar with. If it's a long show where I know I'll be drinking I'll even pick a bathroom song lol.

TBH I wish more people would look at the setlist ahead of time in situations where you're seeing a band that you only like/know some of their music, and are going to complain if they focus on the music that you don't like/know. Don't complain and ruin the vibe for everyone else when you could've looked up the setlist beforehand and decided not to go. I'm mostly thinking about Taking Back Sunday's 2016 headliner where they played Tidal Wave in full. I still see people whine about that on the internet lol

  17. estacey99

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

I almost always look to see what to get excited about, what I've seen already (or haven't before), if I can leave early, and to know the set songs offhand. On a couple occasions I haven't looked and there's been some great surprises but nowadays I need to know what's happening.

Yeah it depends on the band. I’m never gonna look at a menzingers or wonder years setlist cause I know all their songs.

If it's a band I love I usually don't bother with the setlist but in any other circumstances I want to look at the set to learn the lyrics if I'm not that familiar with them or to see if the show will be worth it for me.

I didn’t used to look at setlists at all,but increasingly I’m starting to. Mainly for artists I’ve already seen multiple times; I’ve seen tons of artists 10+ times & love that, but for them I like to know if it’ll be worth shelling out money to see the same set again. Dance Gavin Dance at PlayStation Theater tomorrow is a perfect example,I really wanna go but I can’t justify buying an $80 ticket secondhand to a sold out show of a set I saw last year

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

I always look at setlists. That way I can get stoked over the fact they play a song I like, get familiar with songs I haven’t really listened to, and get a sense of how long the show will be

I usually look, as well. Although, some artists/bands who have a big discography change up their setlist day-to-day. Usually there will be some setlist staples. Of course it's always great to not care when you know/love all of their songs

Years ago, by the time I'd go to a concert, I'd almost know the setlist by heart because I'd check them all the time. Now, I try to refrain from looking to keep the element of surprise. but it's REALLY hard for me to avoid so I'll take a quick peak and then won't look again so by the time I go to the show, I forgot most of it, or at least the order of songs and things of that nature.
