She felt it with the Force, she didn’t remember it

I can't lie, all of this talk is making me think I may need to re-watch The Last Jedi right now...

My favorite characters look way different if include the other canon in it. Based solely on the movies, it's probably this:

    1. Yoda
    2. Rey
    3. Luke
    4. Leia
    5. Han
    6. Lando
    7. Darth Vader
    8. Kylo Ren
    9. Palpatine
    10. Qui-Gon

Honestly, looking at my order, it feels arbitrary. I could rearrange most of these and argue with myself about who goes where. It's tough because if I had to pick the most interesting character, it'd probably be Kylo. But I'm factoring in how much I personally like and am rooting for the character too. Rey rank's above Luke for me because she is not only interesting (a hero with a villain's backstory), but also soooo damn likable. Yoda is the GOAT though. Qui-Gon was an interesting part of the prequels because he was less concerned about the image of the Jedi and really just all in on the force.

I’ve never got an implication from that scene that she felt it with the force. To me, it felt like Rey has always had a fear that her parents were nobodies and hearing Kylo say that fed more into that fear.

But he never said it. She said it first.

Because that’s her fear. She assumes her parents are nobodies even though it never ultimately confirms or denies it unless you believe Kylo. Rey said they were nobodies but she doesn’t remember her parents. Maybe she did see it through the force, but I haven’t seen any anything that supports that.

I like to talk about theories like these because I really do think we’ll get a confirmation who if her parents were nobodies or not in Ep IX. So in the mean time it’s fun to talk about that scene from TLJ.

This is seriously one of the most frustrating things about the discourse around The Last Jedi. Johnson left no ambiguity there at all, regardless of what JJ decides to do with the story from there. And it will be a shame if he retcons it because it’s better the way it is.

Guys it's already hidden in plain sight just look at the word Skywalker then take out S, k, w, a, l, and k. It's Rey backwards duh also S-K-Y-W-A-L-K-E-R that's 9 letters and it's the 9th Episode. Coincidence?

"I had some gut instincts about where the story would have gone. But without getting in the weeds on episode eight, that was a story that Rian wrote and was telling based on seven before we met. So he was taking the thing in another direction. So we also had to respond to Episode VIII. So our movie was not just following what we had started, it was following what we had started and then had been advanced by someone else. So there was that, and, finally, it was resolving nine movies. While there are some threads of larger ideas and some big picture things that had been conceived decades ago and a lot of ideas that Lawrence Kasdan and I had when we were doing Episode VII, the lack of absolute inevitability, the lack of a complete structure for this thing, given the way it was being run was an enormous challenge."

"I feel like we might’ve done it. Like, I actually feel like this crazy challenge that could have been a wildly uncomfortable contortion of ideas, and a kind of shoving-in of answers and Band-Aids and bridges and things that would have felt messy. Strangely, we were sort of relentless and almost unbearably disciplined about the story and forcing ourselves to question and answer some fundamental things that at the beginning, I absolutely had no clue how we would begin to address. I feel like we’ve gotten to a place—without jinxing anything or sounding more confident than I deserve to be—I feel like we’re in a place where we might have something incredibly special. So I feel relief being home, and I feel gratitude that I got to do it. And more than anything, I’m excited about what I think we might have."

    Abrams on Episode IX.

The only vibe I'm picking up from those quotes, and I could be misunderstanding or misinterpreting what he's saying, is that he's interested in answering lingering questions which worries me a bit. Sometimes questions are better left unanswered rather than answering them poorly.

Regardless, I'm sure I'll still enjoy it but not sure if it will be as long-lasting as The Last Jedi has been in my mind.

I’m glad he seems to be wanting to answer questions. Since this will be the last film in the Skywalker saga I want closure. Let everything come full circle.

Sure, I'm down with the idea of closure. But I'm not sure how down I am with Abrams' version of closure, if that makes sense, haha

Idk. I dont think that necessarily means its going to be overexplaining things. It doesnt mean its going to go into Snoke or anything. I personally wouldnt mind better connective tissue. I feel liek a glaring place for this is Bens obsession with Vader and how he became so dedicated to becoming bad. Why he hated Han so much. Idk. whatever it is I trust JJ.

I know its the classic "what else are they going to say thing when promoting the movie" shit, but I do still love hearing "I feel like we’re in a place where we might have something incredibly special."

I guess my initial thought on reading his quotes was, "I don't think I need answers from questions from movies that are 15-40 years old," or something along those lines. One of my favorite things about TLJ was moving on from the past, you know what I mean?

Obviously we're doing the classic overthinking that comes along with Star Wars hype and news, haha, so I could be blowing them out of proportion.

Well duh. half the fun of being a fan is overblowing things and being irrational lol I dont think its going to go that deep into the other trilogies. I dont think metachlorians will be referenced or anything

Some questions need answers and others don’t. It all depends on whether JJ answers the right questions or not.
