Wouldn’t the output of the plant justify the investment though?

 

I’m no expert on nuclear power, but I remember playing Sim City and the financial and energy benefits of building a power plant was only hindered by the risk of a meltdown.

 

The technology has improved so much since Chernobyl and Three Mile Island though.

 

The risk of a meltdown is so low that isn’t really a concern anymore. The main concern is the cost (really expensive to construct nuclear plants, but operating costs are really low so does that even out?). And nuclear waste is a downside too but I haven’t done much research into it so maybe they have better ways to store it now.

Anyway, I will say that for people on the left who call to completely remove nuclear power ASAP (I remember when Jill stein conpared nuclear plants to WMDs lol) I don’t really understand that view. I do understand saying that unless we find cheaper ways to build the plants and get rid of the waste we shouldn’t be increasing our nuclear power production.

 

Money is a made up concept, the idea that mankind can’t come together to build plants because of the sticker price is crazy.

The whole concept of money is weird to me, like is every dollar amount in this country attributed to a physical dollar bill? The 1995 movie The Net made me think any computer hacker could alter someone’s bank account balance. Like, what would happen if I could instantly add $10,000 to my checking account through a computer? What would happen if suddenly every person with a bank account have $10,000 added to their account? Would inflation occur?

 

Lower income conservatives truly believe one day they’ll strike it rich, which is why they oppose high taxes for the wealthy
