Reading the article discussion thread about no future and stuff on reddit just hurts my head.

Can't all these people just appreciate anything? Instant gratification and acting like a band owes you something just doesn't feel like something my friends and I did when we were growing up....

Every new blink song that's been released so far, minus "No Future" because I'm waiting for the album, have given me a level happiness and excitement that I haven't felt in a LONG time from any other new music from the last few years. Blink is my favorite band, and they're always gonna give me that feeling that no other band can replicate for me. I can't thank them enough for that and I'm just so happy that they seem to be energized and enjoying themselves again.

I'm already singing along to this song after two fucking listens aha. I don't know what is but this song makes me forget about all the shitty times in life and hitting me in a way that I should enjoy life more than I should. To me that's what pop punk is. Ok, I'm done sounding like a sappy turd now aha.

haha seriously! the sense of entitlement and self-certified knowledge that those Reddit people claim to have just blows my mind. it especially blows my mind that everyone who bitches about Skiba forgets to remember that HE is the reason this band is still together at all. if Matt hadn't agreed to join the band, there'd be no sign of Blink right now, let alone an album, let alone a new single. there's just no way. Matt and John Feldmann made this album possible, and everyone is blaming them for anything remotely negative just because they aren't Tom Delonge.

 

To echo this same idea; Look at blink's success compared to some of their peers. Bands like Yellowcard and The Starting Line (eventually) wrote/still write much more complex, deeper and equally as catchy music, and while they had moderate success, they never became multi-millionaires and headlined amphitheater tours. Was it because blink were way better songwriters and way ahead of the curve? No way. It was because of how they made people feel. They spoke to people but mostly just made them have fun, and everyone at the time just gravitated towards that lifestyle. In a sense, they got lucky. I know they worked hard and knew how to write catchy music, but a big part of it was that they were in the right place at the right time and their whole attitude just really caught on. Their songs, while super simple, gave people an identity to grab onto.

That's a big part of why Tom lost a lot of his mojo. Once his identity sort of faded by parting ways with blink, so many people became disinterested in his songwriting even though it had always been mediocre and he largely did the same things as always just with more reverb and delay.

My parents are seriously driving my friends and I to the show tonight. My mom may even take a photograph of us before taking off...They did this same exact thing 15 years ago.

If these new songs suck, then blink's entire discography sucks. What are people expecting?

 

Every time I turn on a Blink record, I am reminded of the feeling I used to get as a 12 year old kid.

Even Neighborhoods provided that feeling in moderation.

While it's not a great album from start to finish, it has its moments that remind me of why I've loved this band since '95.

The 5 new blink-182 songs that we've heard so far have made me feel something that I've never felt towards any blink-182 release: indifference.

Even Dogs Eating Dogs warranted several playbacks for a specific moment or two.

As of right now, I'll be skipping each and every song released so far in perpetuity.

 

What is this supposed to mean

I take it as people are expecting too much from a pop punk band.

It means that these new songs aren't very far removed from what blink has always done. It's catchy, simple, fun pop punk. If someone thinks that every song on this new album sucks, then I don't see how they would enjoy the rest of blink's discography.

 

So many things I love about this song. So many things I hate.

Skiba absolutely steals this song from vocals to guitar parts/tone.

The Na Na's totally ruin this for me. I love Blink but something about a bunch of 40 somethings singing na na's and whoooa's all the time...not sold.
