Anyone here watch Parks and Rec? All these blink fans on reddit and youtube remind me of the civilians during public forums on Parks and Rec where they have stupid complaints that are so ridiculous that you think they're joking, but they're dead serious. That's what all the complaints have been like.

No Future is the most comfortable Skiba has sounded yet. Maybe my favorite track of the three.

I've always thought that "Stockholm Syndrome" had good lyrics. Especially for a blink song.

Yeah I guess. But still if you know that some people are crazy/rich/willing enough to pay crazy prices then it might be worth trying! Haha.

  10. This the best Skiba has sounded in years to be honest. And he sounded great on My Shame.

  11. I may be off with this, but I feel like most of the complaints and "we want Tom back!" people are younger. I think younger people have a harder time with letting go and accepting change. For you and me, we're in our 30s, and while I can't speak for you or anyone else in here, I feel like I've learned how to roll with the punches and be open to change without whining about it and comparing everything to the past.

  12. This is the first (thing I remember)
Now it's the last (thing left on my mind)
Afraid of the dark (do you hear me whisper)
An empty heart (replaced with paranoia)
Where do we go (life's temporary)
After we're gone (like new years resolutions)
Why is this hard (do you recognize me)
    I know I'm wrong (but I can't help believing)

Is this a Papa Roach song?

  13. in the biz, that's what we call "taking advantage of."

Hahaha I don't know man, I just like that song. Definitely has better lyrics than some of the other songs on that album.

We talk too much / We talk in circles

    Sigh.

5 songs in and I've yet to hear one guitar riff that is remotely interesting.

Once again, they wrote the same type of riff for this song that they wrote for BTD.

The bridge is the only part I like (somewhat) because it sounds like an Alkaline Trio bridge.

I think Tom is a headcase like everybody else but his guitar playing is creative no matter how bad a performer he is.

Matt just doesn't approach the guitar the same way Tom does so these songs are missing a dimension that Tom's presence would have. Like him or not, Tom's parts are memorable. You don't have to be Yngwie Malmsteen to write memorable parts.

So far, the guitar parts have no personality. They lack an identity.

Please don't accuse me of being a Tombot. I'm just calling a spade a spade. I've tried being optimistic but my optimism has now shifted to the EP that has their initial ideas for this record.

  17. Yay, no I don't have to deal with that shitty lyric video.

It's a power point presentation if you make it look like one. Lyric videos can be awesome and fun to watch. So far, blink's aren't.

  19. Which
I like it. I mean, it's fine. It's a fun, enjoyable, sunny pop song. That's what Blink is to me. I think that some people want Blink to be what Blink was when they first discovered Blink. And that's a feeling you just can't get back. It's like wanting to recapture your youth, it's not possible. And within that framework people find reasons not to like the new songs by describing the flaws that were always in Blink-182. They're not new, it's what Blink ... is. So I've learned to accept what Blink is, why I liked them in the first place, and I enjoy the music for what it is ... fun stupid pop music ... that's what Blink's always been ... it's the feeling it gives you that matters. The enjoyment, the energy, the laughs. I enjoy it, it's fun to listen to, it gives me a nice dopamine hit. That's totally great after a decade of nothing.

This whole discussion on how terrible blink's lyrics have always been is weird to me. I've never thought of them as incredible lyricists obviously, but the lyrics have always been fine and normal to me. They've been relatable to me, and that's all I really care about.

  22. I'd rather watch a blank screen. Lyric videos all suck, it's just degrees of their awfulness you deal with to listen to the music.

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

I mean at what point do people realize that every single complaint they're making could be applied to infinite blink songs from the past, just accept that they can't like blink without Tom (and that's fine), and just get lost. These people want Tom to be in the band more than the man himself does. The dude flaked on studio plans like three times. If Tom was still in blink there'd still be nothing music-wise. So if Tom means that much to you, like just let blink go. Don't listen to it lol.

This. This all the way. I suffer from depression, and on the days when it really hits me the hardest, I know I can turn on Blink, and for a while I can enjoy myself. It's catchy feel good music.

  25. Kinda laughing at the dude that has spent 100s of posts talking about Tom's guitar playing saying he's not a Tom-stan. Heheheh .
