I dunno. That’s strange to me. When I was made manager I was still working at the independent place and I was sorta treated as a manager for awhile before they actually made me one so I didn’t have an interview. Guess I had one when I came to cinemark but the GM and I really got along and ended up just bullshitting the whole time, which was good for me.

I guess you just gotta recognize that it is another level of commitment, so you have to be willing to do that. Later nights, you’ll be the person actually handling shitty customers, more responsibility, far less opportunity to call off etc. But it looks good on a resume and is totally worth it imo. Some people think going into management in the service industry means you’re trapped for some reason but you really aren’t. I’m just doing this while I’m in school and it’ll look good later. Not sure if that’s advice really...I guess just be willing to take on the extra responsibility and make sure the management team knows that.
