So boycott As I Lay Dying, Within the Ruins, Kingdom of Giants, Erra, Bleed From Within, Chelsea Grin, Unearth, and Fit For a King?

I seriously don't get why bands tour with AILD because them and their managers have got to know how bad the optics are. AILD must be paying those opening spots extremely well.

 

I think you seriously doubt how little of a shit the metalcore community as a whole has given. They've pretty much collectively given a statement of "I don't condone what Tim did, but damn it he did his time and just listen to that breakdown! #AILD4LYFE" which is the weakest mental gymnastics I've ever seen. Like I think I've only seen one prominent person within that scene speak out against them and that was Jamey Jasta.

Not really speculation, but what's the shortest "headline" set y'all have ever seen?

Cherry Pools is playing 8 songs (including 2 covers) on their current headliner. Their opener, Tillie, has been playing 9 songs, which is wild to me.

 

pretty sure headlining sets from The Locust used to be like 25 minutes with 1-2 minute gaps between songs

 

I wanna say like 40 minutes, maybe 45 when i saw Forever Came Calling headline in 2015?

 

I saw La Dispute play a six song headlining set in 2008 or 2009 but one of those songs was “Last Lost Continent” so no one complained.

 

Thy Art Is Murder did a one-off show in Wilmington, NC while on Mayhem Festival In 2015. Set was about 8 or 9 songs total.

 

When I saw Ingested on their headliner with Enterprise Earth, Bodysnatcher, and I Am, they only played an Intro + 7 songs.

is it really surprising that AILD has made such a comeback given Radke and JCraig are also such big names in the same specific community?

I remember Dance Gavin Dance used to play short headlining sets and the speculation was Jon couldn’t handle more than that. I remember this being around the Instant Gratification timeframe. I’m about to see an I See Stars headliner where they’ll only play 10 songs.

 

Every show I've seen at the voltage lounge in philly headliners play 45 minutes or less, shows tend to be over before 10 there so idk if they're just cutting set times to meet curfew or if they're just that long on the whole tour

 

BMTH headlining sets would be like, 27 minutes in 2008. made me truly hate them for a while. even on taste of chaos, cancer bats opened, played like 30 minutes, BMTH played maaybe 18. called the crowd f*ggots too in the bay area

 

I’ve seen Kingdom of Giants headline twice and they played 6 songs both times. 20-25 minutes.

 

Yeah this is probably the shortest headliner I’ve been to. Unless you count this time I saw The Kooks play a pool party where they played 5 songs

 

I think the shortest headline set I've seen is Forever Came Calling on their headliner. YMAEWK actually played 10-15 minutes longer than them and FCC played a 30 minute set. I was very disappointed haha

 

The Story So Far played like 55 minutes when I saw them the first time. Which I guess is pretty standard but I had only been to like 3 shows before that and I was about 14 at the time.

 

I mean this doesn't really count 'cause it was a local show and the promoter screwed up the schedule but I saw Glacier Veins play a 4 song headlining set once

 

Touring with aild is huge and this forum is the only one I partake in that actually shares negative viewpoints about them. I do not intent to open the can of worms for more opinion sharing/arguments/name calling by saying this but, as a fact, these tours are huge and the overwhelming majority of fans do not think the same way some do in here. It’s huge to share a stage with such an influential band, with so much hype right now (selling out 2500 cap venues 6 years after their most recent album) and if you’re gonna boycott bands that support them you’ll run out of bands sooner rather than later.

 

Shortest set I’ve seen was The Offspring’s acoustic set I saw just this past Tuesday. 14 songs (and half were covers). If they cut stage banter down, the show probably would’ve only been like 45 minutes.

EDIT: Actually, shortest set I’ve seen was At The Drive-In two years ago. 13 songs. Same deal as The Offspring, if stage banter was cut, it would’ve been maybe a 45 minute set

 

Mine was Sleep On It's headliner in Februrary. They played like 10 songs at my date, after cutting 2 songs from the setlist.
