Crazy that we're finally going to have a title and teaser for this in a week.

I believe we will see the Benioff and Weiss movie before Rian’s, if the rumors wind up being true.

So many publications are twisting his words into clickbait when this is what he actually said:
So, no. Being okay with everything being retconned isn't really what he was saying at all.

It seems shitty to ask a director if he'd be ok with having his work completely undone. Maybe just me? Idk

“BREAKING: Rian Johnson implies Abrams killing off Rey in Episode IX would be ‘exciting’ in red carpet interview”

    Clickbait journalism is a joke.

It's very shitty. I'm glad he seems to have such a healthy response and outlook to all of the bullshit that comes along with this - and there is SO MUCH of it - because it means we're gonna get another Rian Johnson Star Wars film down the road. I really wouldn't blame him if he had no desire to do another SW or any other big franchise film ever again.

I personally don't want the story to go the route where we find out Rey is a Skywalker or any other hugely notable name, because one of my main criticisms with the newer SW films is now small they keep making the universe seem, but people do seem to be getting extremely hung up on weird details about this subject.

There are so many other ways to interpret that exchange between Rey and Kylo Ren aside from just straight information presented to Rey / audience.

I hope Abrams has the sense to not undo one of the best parts of TLJ. He’s disappointed me before and obviously this “story” is spun out of nothing, so there’s no reason to actually worry he’ll do it. But man. That would be atrocious.

The question was only regarding the reveal of Rey’s parents which we still don’t know if Kylo was just trying to kick her while she’s down or if he was being honest.

If Abrams reveals that her parents are someone else I don’t know if it would be entirely “retconning”.

    Exactly:up::up:

I don’t get why Josh Horowitz is so obsessed with Rey’s parents. He asked Simon Pegg about it too. Very weird tbh

    *whispers*Rey said it first

It’s the parentage of one of the biggest characters in the sequel trilogy in a franchise that has focused heavily on family members. I can see why people are wanting to know.

We do know though, it was answered in the last film.

You had Kylo, who was clearly trying to win Rey to his side, mention her parents in a way I’m not sure he would have known.

Until her parents are shown or revealed through someone that isn’t trying to convince her to join his/her side, I would consider it still up for grabs, especially if Johnson is okay with Abrams putting a spin on it.

This is all I can think of whenever people still bring up the Luke Skywalker Rey's dad thing:

Damn Maul and Qui Gon that high with only really one movie. Impressive. Are you a big fan of the movie as well or just the characters?
