These two new songs are fucking phenomenal. "Harmony Hall" is really damn good and I would put these two new ones from today right up there with it. As others have pointed out, "Unbearably White" is such a great name for a VW song.

Of the others, "Big Blue" is the only one I've come around on so far.

Just relistened to all the songs and have decided this is probably going to be a masterpiece that’s talked about for years and I’m sorry for ever saying anything bad about a sunflower because it’s silly but also brilliant

Right now "Sunflower" and "2021" just remind me of "California English, Pt. 2".

best drop of the bunch for me

I am still personally disappointed in the production style they seem to be going with after MVotC but what're ya gonna do

Yeah, great songs. I can’t put my hand on it but for some reason I’m not connecting with them as much as mvotc or contra production wise. I can totally tell the ones Rostam is on and it feels more normal? Could just need to be a grower for me.

The production just kinda feels too clean? MVoTC’s production was clean too but there was an ethereal quality to it that made it work

I miss Rostam’s influence dearly and he’s a large part of why Modern Vampires is the record it is. I think this album is going to be great and get tons of hype, and already the singles are gaining this band new fans (at least in this thread), but I worry that Modern Vampires will be a record many people just don’t listen to because the leap between Contra and Father may make people think they’re NOT missing an even more drastic evolution of sound that occurred between Contra and Modern Vampires, an album that might prove to be an anomaly in their discography.

Edit: I don’t mean to suggest that Father will be a step backwards, because I think it’s going to be FAR from that; but whereas this may prove to be a record that just as easily could have followed Contra, Modern was, to me anyway, a total surprise from a band whose previous sound could have easily had kept them in a corner.

Love love love Rostam, but the band has already proven 6 times over that they are just as great without him
