    1) I love Pete’s message and almost all of what he says but holy fuck he can be a charisma vacuum.

    2) Bill Maher can get fired into the fucking sun. His questioning whether the left should push trans rights because it might not play well politically is disgusting. TRANS PEOPLE ARE HUMANS. Would he advocate for not pushing for equal rights of, say, black people?

Probably, he’s a racist piece of shit anyways.

If I'm putting on my pundit hat, I actually thought Buttigieg came off very personable there, even if it wasn't ridiculously high energy. He's got the same smart, folksy vibe as Clinton while being a lot more low key and wayyyy less creepy. He's likeable and, as has been pointed out, a great contrast to Trump.

Bill Maher sucks, full stop. His opening interviews can still be good, and I understood his point (as distasteful as it is), which is about having the most resonant core messaging possible for the general. I thought Buttigieg's answer and refusal to back down on trans rights as part of a larger vision of America was great. You don't get his answer and repudiation of Maher's line of thinking without that question in the first place.

god i missed the typography/logo talk. thats my shitttttt

i'm so sad that lupton rated beto's logo pretty high. it's the generic hipster looking logo that was popular in 2012 and a font you can find on a free font site (muncie anyone?)

i posted this before, but i'll post it again. the women have the better brands:
The Women Running for President Are Breaking the Rules of Branding

warren using colors other than USA blue/red/white is so fucking good. it's represents change and against the grain. i also love gillibrand's color pallete. i actually like kamala's branding as well, using strong bold type as the hero. bernie's feels outdated, sorry :(

AOC still had the best branding so far

Pete’s folksy and whatnot, but I don’t think he’s got that charm factor of Clinton (which in retrospect is obvious creep factor, not charm) and I don’t think he’ll rally people like, say, Beto.

I understand his point but his question is essentially: is the right to use the bathroom for trans people good to get ya power? Like, that’s fucked up full stop. Pete’s answer was good but I’d argue that giving someone like Bill Maher the time of day so he could literally say that the right to use the bathroom isn’t a good enough issue to run on as if they aren’t real living people is an even better move then his response to bills question.

I get it: Bill has a large, mostly-left leaning audience but he’s also a shit bag. I’d prefer Dems not even give the neoliberal the time of day to ask a question like that in the first place.

  14. Bill Maher's key demo, I assume:

Maher seems to think that the trans bathroom issue is about the left trying to promote something and not the right trying to take something away. Like, bathroom bills are a thing dude, you need to oppose them

Anyone in here cut people out of your life because of their terrible views? I have two people I’ve been friends with for a long time — one for over 15 years, the other 10+ years — who just say or do really offensive shit. One lives an hour away and the other is across the country (but moving back to Michigan). I’ve never had to cut shitty people from my life and I don’t even know how to start it and am looking for advice.

What's weird is in Wisconsin all the left leaning school board candidates had a clean sweep and won but somehow the judge still lost. Just strange.

  23. One of my closest friends from like middle school on started getting really into all that "irony-meme-red-pill-gamer-antiPC-Trump-says-some-good-things-say-offensive-things-for-shock-value" stuff a few years ago and I finally got the point where I couldn't handle it anymore. When it became shit he'd say in public, when I was sitting there with him, I had had enough. In private I would push back, but in public it was like "I'm not going to sit here and argue with you at a bar for an hour." It wasn't easy, cause we used to at least text/see each other on a regular basis, but it sorta just turned into a few weeks of not talking/hanging out ... into months ... into now like three years.

Did this with quite a few friends that just weren't really doing anything productive. I was actually getting into the whole minimalist thing at the time, so I sought out some of their articles and podcasts on deciding which relationships offer you value and which don't. Links below. Hope they help!
