I like this song better than 2020ad. Hopefully the context of the album pulls everything together. Still feels very cookie cutter.

 

They put a bad taste in my mouth when they trashed people for liking Hell or High Water more than their first record. I'll probably still listen to this though.

Oh man, was that Aaron Lunsford or did the whole band say it? I missed that (probably for the best!)

 

Yeah, as I thought this new single did absolutely nothing for me.

 

Aaron is such a shitty dude and it's a bummer he's even still in this band

 

Most likely Aaron, but If I'm remembering the post correctly he made it seem like it was the entire band's feelings. His reputation being what it is though could have been only his too.

I don't like this single. Something, structurally, just sounds so disjointed and dissonant, but not in a clever or creative way.

 

I kinda like the 2:40 part

 

This song is such an odd experience. Parts I like, parts that seem so disjointed and vocally a bit sloppy in places. It's very odd. Echo the above: the 2:40 bit is really good.

I liked 2020AD much more on the second listen (a couple of months later) so hopefully I get used to this one too.

 

The mix is really strange.

dont hate it but definitely felt like this band was capable of doing something super unique and special if they came back together.

 

This is awesome. It's like they took the tones of CNS and the lyrical/singing style of SILYAYD.

 

Yeah I feel like I’m in the minority who likes this quite a bit. It’s not on the level of CNS or HOHW but still very enjoyable.

Chains feels very mid-to-late-00's, like Emanuel or Boys Night Out.

 

Hell or High Water is seriously so good. It's been 10 years since that album so I guess it's unfair to expect them to pick right up where they left off. Maybe the album will be better but the singles on their own don't do much for me.

 

Damn this thread is depressing.. anyways I love 2020 A.D. and Chains - preordered the vinyl too. As a fan of all of their records - I am stoked!

 

Oh man Emanuel and BNO is still my shit for sure lol

Love and miss those bands.
