IDK why but watching these videos reminds me of the time me and an ex-gf took her little sister to go see Metro Station 11 years ago. Lots of lights and jump, jump, jumps.

That was actually a fun show haha

 

I wonder if this means an LP is forthcoming from them. Also, if anyone went to the show, how packed was it? The Belasco is pretty big.

 

I think the plan is a second EP this summer, but we'll see!

like honestly. the +44 album still has some of my favourite lyrics from anyone in this genre, man can write when he sets his mind to it

 

It was at the Belasco Ballroom which holds like 300 people I think. The new songs they played are going to be on an EP later this year

I can’t get over how much on stage chemistry Mark and Alex have

 

They do seem to work together really well. Man, I forget sometimes that Alex is a legit great singer.

 

+44 was in the sweet spot from where he still had those thoughtful and relatable lyrics from blink, but he was just getting kind of weird with it. I feel like half of his lyrics on Neighborhoods were just nonsense for the sake of being "out there". haha.

I enjoyed a lot of what he did on California (and some of it was kind of cheesy), but I really dig the type of lyrics he went for on this EP.

Those videos seem fun, I'd definitely pay to see them if they were anywhere near me. Disappointing they're only doing 9 songs. Would have been the perfect chance to pop a +44 track in there to pad it a bit.

 

I prefer Mark's more storytelling lyrics in the DR-EOTS era than his weird metaphors tbh. Like Apple Shampoo, Lemmings, Dammit, Going away to College, Don't leave me etc. Just straight forward words about life and different scenarios. A lot of the time I think his weird metaphors or non sequiturs are just phrases he's thought of and awkwardly shoehorned in. Like "dynamite and whiplash" and shit like that just does absolutely nothing for me.

 

not all of his lyrics on Neighborhoods are hits but Fighting the Gravity and Hearts All Gone have some really memorable/good lines

much as I don't totally agree I do think the "walk-on part of a background scene of a movie I'm not in" line in Apple Shampoo is maybe his best ever

 

TOYPAJ was kind of a sweet spot where he was just starting to write about all the communication breakdown/paranoia stuff that defined Untitled and +44, but he still had the balance with his funnier/less heavy subject matter down. in general Mark absolutely fucking killed it on that album tbh

 

Stuff like that is cool cos it's a full sentence. I just mean throwing out random phrases like "teenage satellites" or "brokenhearted surgery" aren't my style. My favourite lyric is probably "I never conquered, rarely came". I don't know if it was already a classic well know joke or whatever but I love it. I think the first verse and chorus of Adam's song might be his best work.

 

Hopefully more shows pop up around the states

 

Well if Tom ever rejoins Blink he's definitely going to try to make fun of Mark's dancing. It's payback from Mark meaning fun of Tom's "it's magic" dance. All joking aside the live show looks like so much fun and the EP is quite enjoyable.

I think both "Hearts All Gone" and "Kaleidoscope" have some interesting quotes, but I mean reading them one after the other, they seemed kind of incoherent. Like, individual lines from the verses would be kind of memorable, but I could never understand the meanings behind the verse as a whole because they were so abstract.

 

OK, its been 3 years... what does "life's too short to last long" even mean haha

I want to say that I heard Feldy give an interview where he said he thinks it's a sexual innuendo.
