Ha, gotcha! I'll just wait till tomorrow, then.

Do we have any indication where they are currently at in the process right now? I know they had already written like 40 songs and were in the studio a while ago. Is it being mixed yet or are they still trying to write/record?

Luckily the SC EP is being released today/tomorrow so once that gets a few weeks to shine we should start moving into blink mode. Hopefully like a month from now we'll be getting something serious.

I’d imagine they would announce/release something once the SC buzz slows after the release and some shows. It would be a nice pre-heated oven before blowing the roof off with a new Blink song and album announcement. Just keep build from the success. Know what I mean?

All I know is I’m getting married April 27th and I really want a new Blink song before that happens hahah.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Simple Creatures is going to serve as a nice "opening act" in that regard. haha.

    Also, congrats!

  6. Mark said recently that they were going into the mixing phase now, but that they're also still writing/recording songs during this time too.

I imagine when you write 40 songs some of them have the same elements and you just choose what you liked most. Like how TBS had a song and a B-side from the self-titled with the same lyrics. And I noticed yesterday Make Room from MCR's Conventional Weapons has the same bridge as Na Na Na

Simple Creatures EP will be cool for pool/beach days.

    "I'll chew on a dog!"

This leads me to believe that they have a first single picked out (getting mixed) to drop later while they continue writing/recording.

I wonder if they are still not set on the first single and that's why they're still writing. Just a guess.

I think they probably nailed a first single early on like they did with Bored.

    That's what I'm hoping for.

That sounds rough if they have written 40+ songs and still aren't satisfied with what they have (though that's not unheard of because a lot of bands do that).

  13. I'm hoping they have 40 songs because they want a TON of great songs to choose from so they compile the best album that they can. I hope it's not because they feel like they have 35 bad songs right now and need to keep writing more in hopes that they eventually have enough that they love... haha

I thought they were going to have Los Angeles be the first single until Feldy made Mark write a bridge to BTD and after that happened they were all blown away by it and decided BTD would be the first single.

I'm hoping they end up doing another deluxe album a year later and release a handful of those songs they didn't end up using. Even if they're Bottom Of The Ocean bad I'd still be interested in listening to them.

  16. Same. They're my favorite band so obviously I want all the songs I can get my hands on, even if that means we'd get some that aren't as good as others. But I don't think they'd ever release songs that they didn't think were great (to them) so I'd assume that they'd only give us good songs, but we'll see... because "BOTO" and "California" were officially released.

Yeah I completely agree with you. I wasn't really a fan of the deluxe album as a whole and would have been really disappointed if that was an actual album release instead of a bunch of bonus tracks from a rerelease but I'm still glad we got those songs. I could see them doing something similar to this album if they have recorded that many songs.

This is not necessarily their fault, but I think a lot of our expectations for the deluxe album would have been curbed a little bit had the band not made a couple of comments about how they had written new material for it and how it was almost a "second album". We had our expectations pretty high at that point, but if they would have just said, "Here are all of the rest of the songs from those sessions which didn't make the cut" it might not have gotten such a bad reaction. Who knows really. I'm definitely in the camp of wanting to hear everything they wrote though.

A potential single is a song they refer to as "Paris", Travis said a while back in an interview with billboard.

Travis came out and said it was better than the songs on California which made everyone even more hyped for the deluxe edition. I agree with you if they came out and said we have a bunch of songs that didn't make the original cut but we wanted to share them along with 3 or 4 new songs we wrote since the release it would have been better received.

With that being said I'm still not disappointed they released those songs but any means.

Idk I didn't see much of a "bad reaction" to the deluxe edition. I fucking love it. I don't hate any of the songs, a few of em aren't 10's but I was super stoked to hear more songs from blink with Skiba, especially that within a year they released more songs than they had released from 2009-2014. I was happy, still am happy, gonna be happy again when the new record came out. :ok:

You mean you didn't personally have a negative reaction to it or you didn't see a lot of people complaining about it in generally?

There were definitely pretty mixed reactions among fans when it came out. Some people were just stoked for more music, but people were already kind of put off when "Parking Lot" came out and were highly critical of the whole idea once "Wildfire" came out. This thread in particular was a mess for a long time during that - night and day difference from when California came out.

I felt like people generally liked "Misery" and "6/8" but were mostly indifferent towards the rest of the deluxe. It could have been that we were mostly burnt out on that sound by then, but yeah, I'm still glad they put it out.
