I think they came out and said they were self-references

 

Someone asked Mark on a twitter q&a if it was on purpose and he said they were intentional references from Tom. He also references “your voice” in his “head”. And the “and it’s driving me crazy” echoes Down. I don’t know how much or all of what is intentional but at least some of it is.

 

I remember reading an interview where they said it was a sequel or a sister song to I Miss Yoo. I didn't know the Down reference at all.

 

Adreanaline is still a total bop, what the heck!?

It's just so powerful & emotional and feels so meaningful to have an unrelentingly dark but catchy song in this somewhat bleak atmosphere for alternative music, I legitimately think this is one of the best rock songs to come out this decade.

Lowkey reminds me of "Ghosts of Beverly Drive" by Death Cab though, but that's not a bad thing.

 

What like even better than Thunder by Imagine Dragons?

 

I honestly can't tell when Alex is singing and when Mark is singing on this track - but it rules. I think Mark is just doing backups.

It sounds like it's pretty equal Mark and Alex to me? Idk. Just Alex's inflections really stand out at the end of the lines

The Simple Creatures EP is just ok.

"Adrenaline" is by far the best song on the EP. I liked "Lucy" quite a bit. All the others just aren't my cup of tea. "Adrenaline" will be played by me all summer long though.
