    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

Would The Interrupters and/or Sharp-Shock be an example of plants? I feel like both those bands got big gigs and whatnot from the getgo when they formed

If you've been following them for a while I think it's clear that's not the case, at least at the beginning. They've been doing this since 2011, and it wasn't until their 3rd EP came out in 2016 when AltPress did this piece (5 things you should know about Waterparks before they get big - Alternative Press) when they started gaining steam as a band while on their first tour, opening for Metro Station, then they did Warped (after winning the Houston Battle of The Bands in years past). It's their stellar, experimental & lyrically intense debit album (Double Dare) that boosted them to scene stardom (combined with Awsten's social media presence)

Best example I can think of is The White Noise. Band that had some other projects under different names that showed up under a new name with a completely revamped and polished sound who start popping up everywhere, then upon breakup their guitarist released a statement about them making up their origin story (I believe they were from Texas but the band had been described as being from California) and having had their new sound written by various songwriters outside of the band at the direction of their label.

I can't speak to Sharp-Shock, but as for the Interrupters... As I understand it, Aimee and the Bivona brothers were essentially "introduced" to one another by Tim from Rancid (who helped them write songs, get them signed and all that). Most of that band This is sort of like Fever 333 in that they're people who know the industry, so they've utilized the connections and resources that they have to the best of their abilities.

I asked about that term earlier today because I've heard it tossed around over the last two years or so. Usually in relation to bands who had like, sudden bursts of activity where they're touring with bigger name bands (seemingly out of nowhere) for a year or two. And then it all just sorta stops when nothing really takes... But in every case, each of these bands has kept plugging away, albeit at a much slower-pace.

The Interrupters have been a fairly slow, but consistent build over nearly a decade. If they're a plant, somebody is willing to wait a long time for their return on investment.

When you put it that way Battlecross and Shattered Sun come to mind.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Carnifex on it. They've been telling people they'll be hitting a lot of places they aren't coming to on their spring tour, on their summer tour.

I brought up Sharp-Shock because they basically came out of nowhere and we’re suddenly getting hype from numerous big names across the pink community and we’re getting big gigs. Their first show EVER was opening for Descendents.

I just found out Palaye Royale were from Canada. I could've sworn they were from the U.K.

Sharp-Shock features ex-members of The Dear & Departed, Beat Union, and The Aggrolites. They're used to playing arenas/amphitheaters/playing with big bands in their previous outfits. Not a plant.

I’m hoping for Rivers of Nihil and Fit For An Autopsy. Maybe even Cattle Decapitation since they’ll be working on new material.

fever 333 wasn't started by jason stevis and aric, band was conceived between jason, feldmann and travis to what band "should exist" in the current climate of music/politics

Sleep a Signals is an obvious plant. Pretty sure Bad Omens was too.

I remember awhile ago i read that when Paramore started they were signed to a major label that put them under FBR so they would have "punk" or "indie" cred. Does that count as a "plant" band?

Maybe but Paramore is dope and toured tiny as venues. Half these other plants bands mentioned are shit.
