I'm not certain as to their involvement in the movie, but the movie is based on the book which they were a huge part of. It largely serves as a script and they break the 4th wall in disagreement over how certain moment in their career happened. It's a cool means of cinematography but definitely not what you're looking for.

The Dirt was pretty shit but it really wasnt that much different/worse than Bohemian Rhapsody.

Halfway through and I love it. Animation in some of Eps are incredible. It makes sense that Tim Miller is attached and I can feel David Fincher on this too.

watched the "madeline mccain" docu. interesting stuff up until episode 5...then it really really dragged for no particular reason. Not cool that the McCain's were not cool with the docu being made though.

I couldn't even make it that far. I stopped halfway through episode three. Never returned to it.

Well I was into the early conspiracy theories. Fun how many times my opinion changed...shows how easily people can be manipulated depending on the narrative.

Considering they’re all over the credits, hanging out with the cast and watching them practice, I’d say their role was pretty heavy.

Unlike Bohemian Rhapsody, The Dirt didn't paint any of the band members in a positive light at all so I'm not so sure band changed held back on anything or covered anything up.

I enjoyed the movie itself. The lead singer had some crazy tragic stuff happen back to back. Not a fan of how they skipped over the whole Dr Feelgood era. That album is a classic and I think it was their biggest.

Mötley Crüe has never seemed like a band that tried to preserve their public image either. I’ll probably watch it at some point even though I’m not a huge fan

I disagree. Except for Nikki Sixx's addiction, it never tries to reckon with anything bad that happens. I said it before in the other thread, but Tommy Lee punches a woman in the face (which the movie gives him an out by her calling his mother a bad word several times) and it's never brought up again. The whole death of Razzle is treated as a shrug.

Even as far as eras go, I couldn't tell you a single album that they talked about in the movie besides "Theatre of Pain." It didn't even do a good job of establishing of why the band was huge in the '80s.

But doesn't that prove my point? No one is redeemed in all the bad things they do so it paints them in a horrible light.

If the band wanted to cover up some stuff they could have just skipped those scenes or to appear more sympathetic, there would have been other scenes in it to reflect that.

Agreed. Honestly it was only an hour and 30 mins I think, it could have been a little loner and fleshed more stuff out.

I enjoyed The Dirt. Unlike Bohemian it didn't take itself too seriously.

I know absolutely nothing about Motley Crue, though, so I have no idea how accurate/inaccurate any of the film was.

I enjoyed it for what it was as well, I’d agree that they weren’t redeemed, but they definitely could have fleshed some stuff out more to make it more impactful and analystic. Didn’t like how Razzle dying was a one scene thing. Them breaking the 4th wall was fun. At times it was a little all over the place, but then, so was the band in real life.

I watched many Behind the Music episodes on them and they all completely skipped Neil’s daughter dying and the charity work he has done. I literally had no idea he even had a daughter at that time

I really wish the movie highlighted Razzles band Hanoi Rocks more in terms of how the band met Razzle and all that. Not many people realize Hanoi Rocks was getting ready to tour the US for the first time at that time.

Yup. His band was fucking huge in Europe, they came out in either 78 or 79 I believe.

Out in May, The Society transports us into a modern-day Lord of the Flies, where a group of teens find themselves in an alternate reality where they are left parentless — ruleless. A new society must form, and they've got to figure out a way to do it before shit gets crazy. Their New England town, once a place for preps and frat stars in the making, is no longer West Ham. It's now the town of New Ham. Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies), Rachel Keller (Legion), Gideon Adlon (Blockers), Alex Fitzalan (Slenderman), and 10 other up-and-coming young actors star.
