this has always been my least favorite NFG album (don't hate it, still enjoy it) and because I don't revisit it as much as the rest of their discography, it feels like it's stuck in this weird vacuum of memories and emotions from the fall and winter it came out and the girl I was with at the time. sometimes songs and albums can make you feel nostalgic and it's a good feeling. sometimes it can be unsettling.

Coming Home and Boulders are probably my two favorite songs from this album. Rough choice.

Really wish they’d play more than the title track and Hold My Hand off this album.

 

Make Your Move - Love and Pain is a nice little jam, but Make Your Move is the better song.
Too Good to Be - This is among my favorites on the album.
Oxygen - I mean, yeah.
Coming Home - This is tied with On My Mind for favorite.
It's Not Your Fault - I'm not too keen on Taken Back By You.

 

Make Your Move (did anybody else ever accidentally hear him sing “Go on and tip me over” and also think that was oddly romantic?)

Boulders (a surprisingly good melancholic ballad, they should do this more often)

It’s Not Your Fault (what is with that weird “Rock the Kasbah” vibe on “Taken Back by You?”)

Btw, “Make It Right” is an excellent b-side to this record.

 

All the b sides to this are amazing. NFG were doing so well at this time. Wrote 19 of their best songs and created ISHC as well. I think they might have done a Xmas song too.

 

They did a version of "The Christmas Song" in 2005 or something. They have also recoreded "White Christmas" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" at some point.

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not we shall include the christmas songs (covers) in the bracket?

 

I don't see why not. We're including all of the b-sides and what not, right?

 

I'd say no since they were more or less holiday singles. But it doesn't matter either way.

 

I don’t think Xmas song covers should count, they’re too ubiquitous.
