Exactly...Like it's literally his job to build hype and make sure their name is out there.

@RyanRyan all of your posts here are great and cherished and I want you to know I agree with the sentiment that Jamie overpromises, underdelivers, and can be misleading with his statements beyond what's appropriate for his role as the hype man.

Nigh on everything I ever say, it’s always you pair (Joe and sophos) that disagree and make out like I’m some sort of dictator for having a different opinion to yours. I’m past caring. It’s fucking boring. If you’re not shutting down my opinion you’re telling me I’m dictating. The hypocrisy is astounding. I’m fine with you not agreeing with me, but making out like everything I ever say is ‘trash’ because it doesn’t align with your opinion is just childish. It’s a forum, not an echo chamber. You don’t have to like everything I say. You usually don’t. That’s fine. But I don’t go around calling your opinions trash.

I had no concerns about whether fans were going to ‘survive’ being worked up. Talk about being pedantic. I was just saying after years of the same thing I personally think they deserve a bit better than the same old thing they’ve complained about from the start. It goes beyond being a hype man and clever marketing when such a large group of fans are as vocal as they are about the matter for as long as they have been. Anyway, whatever. I’m done talking to you guys. It’s exhausting.

Dropping hints that are tied to specific dates or times and then not following through with anything on those dates and times is not good marketing. Especially when an album is still so far out from release, there’s no need to start teasing specific dates. There are so many other ways to build hype... and the hype will be much better that way, too, because fans won’t be burned out on all the false promises. Like, there are effective and ineffective ways of being cryptic. Sometimes this band errs on the side of being ineffective with it. That’s not an attack on them, it’s just an observation.

It’s also not a universal truth that this kind of marketing or hyping or whatever sucks... some people enjoy it, nobody is saying otherwise. But if you can’t understand how it can also be hella annoying, I kinda feel like you’re so in love with this band that you can’t admit that they might be making some less-than-stellar PR decisions alongside their many, many more excellent and impeccable PR decisions.

There’s certainly no need to call someone’s posts “trash” because they are annoyed by a band failing to deliver on the oddly specific teases they insist on offering us and then only sometimes actually delivering on.

    YOOO, these boys are sneaky.

The band has been using a newly recorded version of HNSCC as a transition into Somebody Else.

Here's them using it in Mexico and another in London.

Bet we get the full version on Notes.

    Sending my love

Only 25 more days until @thenewmatthewperry and I are in Phoenix then Las Vegas for the first two shows of the US tour! I am *so* excited to see this band again, it's been so long.

I think it's pretty likely that the US shows will have the same production setup as the Vive Latino festival - essentially the slightly scaled back version they used at the smaller UK arenas on the past tour. Very few of the venues in the US have big enough stages to accommodate the full thing.
