Yeah for their first show. Although when I bought tickets to see their first show with Matt they played a few warm ups so I’m expecting that to happen again haha

Damn now I'm rewatching that entire blizzcon performance. I really wish Tom never switched to those Vox amps, his guitar just sounds so lifeless in most of these songs.

I find this pretty surprising. Just looking at the California sets in a bubble they had the usual singles, some deep cuts, and songs from their new album. It was a pretty good set list for a first timer.

Yeah that concert was in the middle of their Untitled 10 Year Anniversary tour. Still mad I saw them a month before they started that tour cycle and got their "regular" set.

I get the complaints about the setlists always being the same, but really my complaint is that they stopped doing the typical 5 minute Travis drum solo where he floats and spins around. I think the last time they did that was on the Civic Tour in 2011.

I didn't even really pay attention, but did they even play any different sets or songs during their residency? I feel like playing tons of shows in the same place is the perfect opportunity to switch it up.

I don't remember him floating or spinning around during that tour. I think the only time he did that floating/spinning around was the Pop Disaster Tour. I remember him doing a drum solo during the Untitled cycles but I don't remember if there were any gimmicks.

But yeah you're right they stopped doing Travis drum solos after the Neighborhood tours ended.

I'm not positive but I think there were like 3 slots in the set that would change from night to night. Adam's Song, Home is Such a Lonely Place, Obvious, Parking Lot, Mutt and Don't Leave Me would come and go a lot.

The first couple shows were promising, I don't think after they got Travis back it was as long or varying. It was when they brought Adam's Song back though

At the beginning of the residency they played 3 or 4 acoustic songs. The sets included some songs they never played (HISALP, Parking Lot, California) or hadn't in forever (Adam's Song, Don't Leave Me, Mutt, Wasting Time) but once Travis got hurt and they started the tour up in November they stopped the acoustic sets.

I think it's funny you guys are mad at the guy who's upset about the setlist.

On one hand, yeah, it's a corporate event and they shouldn't be obligated to play a bunch of deep cuts.
But on the other hand... It's their same exact go-to setlist.

The only differences between this set and the band's final Las Vegas headlining show are:

    The Vegas show had...
    - Stay Together For The Kids
    - Obvious
    - Parking Lot
    - Don't Leave Me
    - 4 (FOUR!!?!) joke songs

    and the show lastnight had...
    - the Ramones cover
    - no joke songs

The Vegas show only had 3 more full songs than the show lastnight did. Other than that, all of it was the exact same. The show was at a corporate event so this setlist makes sense, as it's also their go-to set for radio and summer festivals. But that's the problem, it's their go-to set, and they just fill in the gaps with 4 or 5 songs when they're headlining. So I'm pretty shocked that a bunch of you are getting this upset with this guy who has a very good point that they need to change up their sets, which we've all agreed on for years.

But also.... None of us were even there so we don't totally have a reason to complain about it anyway. Haha.

Yep I definitely remember that from the Neighborhoods tour. Not sure why they stopped it....not only was it a really cool theatrical part of show, but it also added an extra 5 minutes to their otherwise short sets.

I think everyone would agree that they need to change the set list and probably should have 8 years ago.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

The typical set is boring now but to be mad at them for playing that at a corporate event is a wild take

  17. Agreed. They're also (simple) creatures of habit though...

While I was putting that Blink-182 bootlegs site together, it was amazing to see that they've always had go-to setlists throughout their whole career. The small acoustic sets they sometimes do are a nice change of pace though.

  18. It totally makes sense that they'd play this set at a corporate event. It's also the same set they play at radio festivals.

I guess I was bummed that I didn't get Wishing Well or Always at my show ! But getting San Diego and Not Now was awesome.

Yeah and that's what the band has always been, along with playing for under 80 minutes. They're total (simple) creatures of habit and outside of switching out a song in the middle of an tour cycle they really just have their comfort set and stick with it. I think that's why I enjoyed the California set more than others because each night they would switch out one or two songs so while you got their normal go to set there were a surprise or two in there as well.

I think that's why my favorite set was their TOYPAJ or Pop Disaster Tour set. It was a pretty good mix of their singles, fan favorites/deep cuts and new songs from their current album. Once the Untitled tour came and went their sets have literally been the same outside of switching positions of WMAA and The Rock Show and adding songs from their new album at the time.

I'd really love to see them retire Dumpweed, Down, Violence, and Happy Holidays and use those slots for deep cuts and swap out some of their singles each night for example one night play STFTK and the next night play Adam's Song in that slot (like they did in Vegas) or do another Medley of 4 or 5 deeper cuts mixed together like they did with their Untitled tour.

Yeah really wish they would swap out Down with Always as the few times they played it Matt has sounded awesome in it. But outside of them not playing Wishing Well you did get to hear them play San Diego which they only played live a handful of times so it evens out I think.

Anytime that any big name band performs at one of these “corporate events,” they are typically asked by personnel beforehand to cater their set to the audience—in this case, play the well-known hits, and why not include a sing-along cover by a legendary punk band that everyone probably knows better than fucking “Lemmings” or “Dumpweed.” Also, maybe take the stick out from your ass and stop being so ...... “Cynical.”

I know it gets bashed a lot but First Date was super fun to hear them play live and got one of the biggest reactions of the night from the crowd.
