These two things combined is what makes blink great to me, in a very general sense.

I did laugh when Travis said they'd write a fast fun song and Tom would want to do a three minute intro.

But they have never meshed together in a way that worked

I saw someone post new blink sounds like Mark and Mark with a cold and I laughed just a little.

I feel like they hit that stride on Untitled, not sure why they couldn't continue it.

Artists separate their different projects all the time. Guess I'm not sure why Tom could never do the same.

Idk, like Tom's music sucks now I can agree with that, but something doesn't sit right with me in regards to Tom bringing in shit that he's really excited about and the other dudes being like "nah we want to make 3 minute fast pop punk songs". I could see why he would be bummed to work with them. It'd be a different story if the songs that have come out after Tom left are absolute, return to form classics and I don't see that either. I think both singles could've fit on Neighborhoods, honestly.

I'll see what I think about the album, but Tom might not be 100% of the reason I didn't vibe with the post-reunion material

I think this is just something that we must disagree on. The entire Dogs Eating Dogs EP I think blends the two styles beautifully and then quite a few songs on Neighborhoods do a good job of it imo.

finally caught up to this damn thread-- I'm out of breath. Pretty much the only thing I want to comment on is how bad ass that track-by-track description was and that I really hope Skiba (and the rest of Blink) don't fucking read Instagram comments and take them personally, ugh. Skiba is such a sweetheart.

Can't wait for this fucking album

And if they do record it will just feel so disingenuine because it's so obvious their artistic differences. I cannot for the life of me picture the three of them enjoying making music together. And Tom pretty much put them down essentially saying they needed to work with Feldmann, and he doesn't need a producer. I just can't see a blink album with those three ever again. If Tom is legally in it and tries to force his way in, I think Mark and Travis would just be done (I would not hate a +44 reunion lol).

I have had the exact thoughts of everything you posted here, haha.

Exactly. Both have worked well in the past. It's not like there's a right way to do a blink song

  12. Given how bad of a songwriter and singer Tom is ... mixed with the pure insanity of some of his other claims ... I can't see myself ever wanting to listen to anything he's created if he joined Blink again. Literally every time he would sing I'd be like "god damn give it to Matt or Mark and shawdup."

Does anyone remember back before Neighborhoods was released when the band mentioned how it would blend their three styles? Mark's love for indie music, Travis with hip hop beats and Tom with stadium rock. Album definitely didn't sound like that at all.

That's so weird of Tom because watching behind the scenes of IIan recording an AVA album (couldn't tell you which one), he acted like a producer/outside songwriter. IIan even says something like, "I don't typically write songs like this" or something.

Whatever, I'm beyond over it.. just a weird observation that I remember haha

I still have hope that the 2003 incarnation of Blink returns. That we get a proper sequel to the self-titled album. I WANT TO BELIEVE.

Tom would be the first man to fly an alien spacecraft before that would happen. Wait, maybe that's one of the things he can't talk about and it's already happened! So there's a chance!

  17. The best part of why that album sounds like it did has died. It's not happening. For all the shit talking of co-writers, it's so very clear that Jerry made that album work. Cause without him ... well ... we know what Tom does.

  18. Alright can someone repost this new article/interview that everyone has been talking about for the past couple hours? I have no idea what page that started on

  19. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if this album is the last from Blink.

What if Mark, Matt, and Travis recorded as blink-182, and *insert artist here*, Tom, and Travis also recorded as blink-182?

Obviously this would never happen, just a thought.

Or better- what if Tom join and then Matt, Scott and some third guy record and tour as blink-182? /s
