I mean there’s nothing to be upset about hearing that statement!

I am not expecting nor anticipating the album to actually sound like the Untitled album for the obvious reason, but I’m glad if they are choosing an album to compare it to it’s that one.

 

Fingers crossed this album will restore my love for the band

 

Taking that with a grain of salt. Not the release part, but the throwback to untitled part. I always have to remind myself that statement isn’t necessarily referencing the sound, but the process of trying new things.

I did get excited when he said there’s a bunch of different rhythms on the new stuff.

 

Yeah i dont expect it to sound like untitled. But it's cool to hear they're trying different things. So a single next month maybe, at the end of april? Im ready.

 

Yeah I wouldn’t think that translates to sound as much as it probably translates to the process.

 

I don't really care how the album sounds, I just want Mark, Matt, & Travis to finally find "their sound"

 

Yeah I hope they really are trying new things and not trying to rehash old sounds. I know it's kinda done to alleviate old fan "fears" who only want 4 chord pop punk songs about high school and girls but I'd rather they stopped saying "this sounds like old album X or Y". How about something NEW?!

 

I hope this band writes songs they believe in and love playing.

People’s expectations are impossible to fill because they are so different from one to the next.

I liked California. I would be fine with another California because when I started listening to back when Dude Ranch came out. California feels like it belongs in that family with Enema and TOYPAJ.

I also like that they tried going a different route. +44 style, self titled,Neighbourhoods, California Deluxe.

Keeping in mind Skiba is only to have his role I wanna hear what they do, and not have me tell them what to do.

That’s me personally though, because I can tell people don’t like entire albums froM this band.

 

Hopefully Mark told Skiba..."Write songs like 'I Can't Believe'."

 

You don’t bring Matt in to a band to tell him how to write. You bring Matt in because he know how to share the writing vocal duties and play guitar. Plus he’s a hard worker and probably a really great guy.

Matt can probably figure out what’s Blink, Trio or Sekrets or whatever else he wants to work on.

I’d say the same for Mark.

 

Lol, I only said that bc Mark wishes he wrote ‘I Can’t Believe’.

I think it’s great that he acknowledged Matt’s work Trio.

 

Yeah I can’t recall a time when Mark said he wish he wrote an AVA song.

 

He said The Adventure was a cool jam but that’s about it. And I think he was being gracious

 

Tom also said he re-wrote lyrics on TOYPAJ after hearing Alkaline Trio.

I doubt Mark has even listened to any AVA since WDNTW.

 

He remixed one of the songs off of Love I believe.

I hope this album has a few songs that are fun to play on guitar and actually have a lead part

 

I'm just going to wait for all the "what if Tom wrote..." videos featuring Dude Ranch-era Tom riffs that he would never write today anyways

 

I have a feeling the guitar parts will be cooler on the new album since mark and matt will have had more time to write together this time around

I wouldn't mind if we got some Trio type influence on this album. A Stupid Kid esque song would be cool.

 

Or Armageddon. Something fast and (relatively) heavy.

 

Oh that would be fun !
