I'm just looking at it in terms of the team around Cousins, he has a much better opportunity to flourish in MIN than he would in Denver, he would have looked every bit of Keenum/Flacco/Bottles

That’s fair, given the reason Keemun got 22 in the first place was for being in Minnesota lol

This is a fair argument, since the 49ers and Titans were also gunning for him. Being the team to actually lock him down is what the GM does.

But also, the argument at the time even was that they had signed so many insane high-priced contracts that, while they would win in the short-term, they were beyond fucked long term in terms of retaining their own guys. Roby, Paradis, etc all signing elsewhere is that proof.

And that's fair, though Sanders/Thomas/etc is better than what Bortles every worked with. Keenum had a bad year even considering the pieces around him. Im not sure Flacco is an upgrade...certainly not at 3x the price.

To the GM side, Elway's missed on a few too many draft picks of late (and been unable to resign his hits) to make this transition easy. And it looks like he's trying to spend his way to 8-8, which is basically the exact wrong way to go.

that presser where Coughlin steps down from the Giants is so funny and also sad/heartwarming. The “he thinks it’s his fault” and cut to Manning tearing up just really gets me

The way it seemed to play out in real time was Manning liked Elway, everyone who came later came for Manning pretty much. Elway really just piggy-backed onto Peyton’s back. Weren’t the Broncos hurting for cap space due to all those signings after Manning left too (10 million space in 2017, 5 million last year I believe)?

Elway was in “win now” mode just because he signed Manning, and basically blew up the team’s cap, which isn’t indicative of a forward thinking GM. As soon as I hear the words “win now” come out of a/my GM’s mouth, I know that it’s gonna be a rough couple of years after the next one, mayyyybe two.

Agree to disagree I guess, but I’d rather have sustained success, over just one or two good years (even though my team has done no neither lol). Ozzie Newsome was a good GM to me. Ravens were always competitive over his entire tenure. They won twice in like twenty years, but they were almost always in the playoffs/just outside because the Steelers slipped in ahead of them.

For sure, agree to disagree. Typically being in "win now" mode does screw over the future, but I think if you go to the Super Bowl twice and win once, it was worth it and should be commended.

Awww sad to see Kush go.

With Kush gone and Long not dependable for a full season I wouldn’t be surprised if they drafted a guard or center in the 3rd.

That’s the thing though, nobody hasn’t commended him for winning the one, the argument here seems to be whether or not it was because of him/if he is good. The evidence, to me, says no. Winning one super bowl is great yeah, but not if it’s going to be followed by a 4+ years of mediocrity

Apparently Eli is owed a $5 million roster bonus this Sunday and there are reports that they're still not planning on drafting a QB at all this upcoming draft. I really don't know what they're planning. Even if it's to tank for draft position, cut Eli for more cap space and let some backup string you along all year, what the hell?

The giants are gonna waste Saquon’s prime and rookie contract and be maybe good again once he’s finished. Great pick guys
