I loathe the 3 batter minimum rule

    (:

I don't like the idea of a single trade deadline.

Every other sport has one. The double deadline is weird.

  4. Only rule change I hate is 3-batter minimum, so fucking stupid. Will lead to guys faking minor injuries. Especially shouldn't have that rule in the playoffs.

  5. So say it's Game 5 of the 2020 NLDS and the game is tied. Bottom of the 8th, we bring in a reliever with guys on base and he immediately surrenders a home run. Next batter he surrenders a solo home run. So now my team is losing and you're telling me under the new rules the manager is supposed to just leave the guy in there and hope for the best? Or substitute giving up two BBs on four pitches each for surrendering two HRs, same problem. I dunno I just don't get it.

  6. These new rules suck and it’s directly aimed at the brewers

  7. Well let’s fuck em up this year and win the whole goddamn thing

  8. hadn't thought of that before but yeah it's definitely targeted to teams like yall and tampa bay

wild to me that baseball execs would think to themselves "oh hey it's harder to get ppl interested in baseball now, let's change the rules to stop teams from developing interesting new strategies that might get more ppl excited about baseball"

  9. I feel like the three-batter minimum introduces a whole new set of strategies. I wouldn't think it's any less strategic than the current system, just in a different way. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

I don't hate the 3 batter minimum, but I totally get why people do. I just see it dramatically speeding up the game. Nothing is worse than waiting for the 3rd reliever of an inning to warm up on the mound.

  11. This doesn't seem like it will have any real effect (starting in 2020):

  12. If the game is "slow," which is a presumption I would strongly disagree with, it's because of 1. commercial breaks 2. commercial breaks 3. commercial breaks and 4. batters taking forever to get into the box. Not pitching changes, not pitchers throwing to first a million times, not mound visits.

  13. That being said I'm kind of surprised the MLBPA went for it because I could see it putting some LOOGY types out of business. Maybe the tradeoff is reducing pitcher injury risk by using fewer pitchers per game?

  14. probably the price they had to pay to get the 26th roster spot

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

Were there many position players pitching in games that had LESS than a 6 run margin at the time? I doubt it lol

Well I agree, but I mean specifically when they are coming out of the pen and then throw like ten warmup pitches. And ive seen it on the TV so it not all commercials. You're right though, that's definitely the biggest problem.

    position players can't pitch anymore

except in the cases in which they were already pitching lol what the fuck is the point of that

three batter minimum is garbage and fucks with the historical continuity of stats

  20. What if a pitcher just walks to the dugout after retiring one batter? What's the ump gonna do, fucking eject him??

I mean sure, but like times change and sometimes the game need to evolve. The win means nothing now. The importance of stats change so to restrict change based on stats seems silly

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

Lol good point, what's the penalty? Eject an eligible player? Fines? It'd be funny if this was like when they tried to make batters stay in the box and they just gave up right? Haha
