He did it with a generational talent of a QB and a roster that was mostly inherited. When those two things weren't there, the dropoff was immense and he didn't do anything to stop the bleeding at all. That's why I don't think he's good or think what he's done is special.

 

Like I genuinely don't see how someone can look at that team and think it was Elway's doing.

 

I genuinely can't understand how someone could look at what they did those first five years and think that he just lucked into it as if anyone could have done it. There are Hall of Fame level players, coaches, GMs, etc... that have never won a Super Bowl or got close to the level of success that he's already had but for whatever reason people just ignore it. "Yeah but if you remove all the good moves he made, then he really hasn't done much at all!"

 

Elway stinks

 

Like, there are franchises who haven't had that level of success if you combine their entire collective history!

 

outside of signing Peyton Manning, which obviously is a great/huge, what moves did Elway make that were so tremendous?

John spytek is the reason for the majority of the good signings anyway and he hasn't been with the team since they won the superbowl

Without Manning, I don't think that team takes off. They don't get to the Superbowl either time. Players leave and definitely don't stay there.

Yes, Elway convincing him to play there was fantastic. It built the foundation for people to come there and want to win a ring.

But again, what else has he done? He has single-handedly nuked that franchise over the last years.

 

He has missed on nearly every 1st round pick he's had

 

Who did he opt for at QB over Kap? Osweiler? Semien?

 

Are you saying his ability to scout and draft Brock osweiller, Paxton lynch and Trevor siemien weren't enough to get them a superbowl?

Yeah I couldn’t remember the year he tried to trade for Kap so I couldn’t remember who would have been the guy he went with instead. Not that it matters they’re all bad.

 

The best QB about of 7 is Flacco, and that is alarming

Looks like Kap turned down the Broncos offer, the Broncos wanted to pay him $7 million a year for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Which, yeah, that’s garbage.

The Broncos rolled with Semien, Lynch, and Osweiler those seasons instead

 

Kaep was so perfect for them at that time, too. You’re the reigning super bowl champ, with an elite defense and two strong receivers in Sanders/Thomas. Instead of going with the proven solid vet, you take Simean.

 

I could and have listed essential players both drafted and picked up in free agency, but they continue to be ignored and written off for literally no reason, so why do that again?

 

I think people don't like Elway the person and if it was just another "normal" guy as the GM and made the exact same moves that led to the exact same success, he wouldn't be reviled anywhere near the same amount.

 

No, he would still stink and broncos fans would hate him. So actually, the opposite because some broncos fans still like him simply because he's elway and gets the benefit of the doubt.

 

Also, the broncos were gonna pay Kurt stinkin cousins a ton but the Vikings gave him more

 

Elway was my favorite player growing up and pre-Trump I was in on him as a GM. After 8 years I think he’s a bad GM and person.

 

Elway would've been canned already if he was just any guy but the bolens love him cause he's elway.
