They're at SXSW this week doing new album talk and playing an acoustic show, maybe we'll know something more here soon.

Funny that their Facebook page (which they just uploaded the two new photos today) still has Chris Freeman and Ben Homola listed as members.

I’m looking forward to this quite a bit. I think it will be cool to hear songs Andy wrote outside his concept from the lasting manchester orchestra album. Songs like Pyotr, or just a different side again. Kevin’s great at adapting. It Never Stops is still my favourite.

    Shut the FFFFFFRESHFISH UP

I was just talking to my fiancee about Bad Books putting out a new album this year yesterday. So happy to see it's (probably) sooner than I thought this year!

I’ve had a playlist on my phone for the last couple years of my favorite 15 Bad Books songs, and I call it ‘Good Books.’

I’m prouder of this than I should be.

Is that the one he was playing solo live with references to watching football?

I’d never considered looking at it that way, and was definitely just happy with the dumb name.

But, since you asked I looked:

    How This All Ends
    Holding Down the Laughter
    The After Party
    Pyotr
    Petit Mort
    No Sides

Are not on my usual Bad Books listening playlist. Which isn’t really a knock on any of them, but is just basically a reflection of my desire to listen to BB for an hour or so at a time, usually.

I like that Bad Books isn’t a locked in sound. It’s songs that could have been on a Manchester album, or a Kevin album, or a solo acoustic styled song, or something quirky, or singing together.

My list would be different as to favourite songs based on what you left off.

Yeah, like 4 or 5 years ago Andy used to play it at solo shows. Always had a Bad Books feel to me.

I now have Petit Mort in my head. Feels like it could have been on Brother’s Blood.

With Manchester doing a very specific last record, and Andy having a track record of writing a variety of styles of songs I feel like he should be bringing a lot to the table in terms of “different”. Kevin has an outlet to be creative and try what he wants with the Devinyl series. He’s just adaptable, from acoustic, full band, Kenny O’Brien, whatever.

It’s kinda interesting to have an album come out where I very ok with things no feeling cohesive. To me, that’s what makes this project likeable.
