I think a lot of the backlash comes from the movie intentionally not being for traditional white male comics fans. Vox did a piece that explains how even the suit is essentially a rebuke of how women used to be depicted in comics, and echos Larson's attitude about the movie. Wonder Woman and Alita may have challenged the status quo by not having straight white guy protagonists, but they didn't seem to be picking a fight the same way Captain Marvel did.

How old is Monica supposed to be when Carol makes their way back to them? In the flashbacks (where Carol's calling her by her nickname) she appears the same age, but we know Carol was missing for 6 years after that…

I love how she literally says "…and for the third time, I don't hate white dudes" in that clip, and white dudes on the internet are still saying she does.

I read some post about how Disney made it so Captain Marvel is the only movie in theaters so if you go to the movies it’s your only option. Lots to unpack there but it’s not even true haha

 

I found out one of my co-workers that I respected is a big anti-Captain Marvel guy (He’s in his 50s). He sent me a bunch of stuff about Rotten Tomatoes deleting ratings and how bots were praising Captain Marvel.

He hasn’t been to the movies in decades and as long as I’ve known him, has never talked about comic book movies. I’m 100% sure he was radicalized the Internet.

 

All these losers hating on women would break their own legs to even speak to a woman for five minutes. How are they so blind and stupid???

It was there for that movie too. They tried to file lawsuits.

 

So does Captain Marvel not age? Or does she age slowly? What's the deal?

 

She's got Kree blood now so maybe that's it

 

I'm 75% certain they explained in AoS about Coulson and Kree blood and how Coulson does not age due to being injected with Kree blood

 

This was great. Really happy it's doing so well. Brie was excellent and I'm glad my initial worries about the voice overs in the trailers ended up being completely unwarranted.
