That sucks. I'm not really familiar with his work but I always heard good things

The only other horror I know he starred in was the Fright Night remake. He was fun in the Star Trek movies. Tragic loss.

    Oh and Odd Thomas.

Yelchin was going to be the villain in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's Mr. Mercedes.

I'm not familiar with the book. King adaptations are so hit or miss. Regardless, I'm sure he would have played the role well. Does that mean this next Star Trek movie is the last thing we'll see him in?

I don't mind romance, I just found it to be cheesy and cliche here. Don't get me wrong, still liked it overall!

    The Conjuring 2 was great.

The painting scene was a real holy shit moment. The film was pretty relentless. I'm glad there were a few lighter moments thrown in.

Can't decide which Conjuring film I prefer at the minute. Will have to watch both again in the next few days.

    I really was too...

I've been checking for updates on casting choices for Mr. Mercedes and the It adaptation about a twice a day for a few weeks now.

Part of me wants the project to just disappear because that Brady Hartsfield role will almost certainly be recast and Yelchin was the perfect fit.

Apparently his car was in the process to be recalled by the manufacturer. Something with the gear shifter that caused the car to not recognize that it was put in park. In May, a letter had been sent to everyone who purchased the car warning them to be careful, but Jeep didn't have the parts to repair them, so it wasn't recalled yet. Sad stuff.

What are your thoughts on Fire in the Sky? This movie freaked me out as a kid and I think it holds up as a thrilling alien abduction film. Though, I haven't read Travis Walton's book, I read the movie deviated from his alien abduction experience. Still, I love how the first half of the film is a Rashomon-style whodunnit as to his whereabouts and then we see what he endured. The alien experimentation scene is still bone-chilling...

The most terrifying alien abduction scene of all time. That whole experiment, the eye needle, still makes me cringe. I wouldn't have even considered this a horror movie without that scene, but it catapults the film into our genre.

Just finished season 1 of Scream. That was way too fun. loved how they poked fun at themselves in episode 1 on horw a slasher story as TV series wouldn't work and then made it work somehow.

    I'm Back.

    My favorite alien abduction movie.

Also people should check out a little flick called The Encounter, which is the second best alien abduction (kind of) movies I've ever seen.

  21. Fun fact: I just learned that I don't think I can stomach a Saw movie at 21. I used to be really desensitized to this shit in high school, and even despite how corny it was, blood and guts just aren't really my speed anymore. Final Destination 5 was a fun watch, but strictly that.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, not exactly horror, but Black Swan was very creepy at times and altogether amazing.

    I'm Back.

Certain parts of the Saw series are hard to watch, but Saw 3 is probably the worst in terms of violence. Anything involving bones breaking and hyper extension makes me cringe.

I bought the Saw series on bluray because it was cheap but I still haven't gotten around to watching it beyond the first three

In my opinion they should have stopped after three but the final one does bring it back to the first movie.

  25. The first two might still be (but probably aren't) as good as I remember, the rest of the series is pretty much ass.
