That Wired video is so damn adorable.

 

At this point I can't tell whether I'm excited for the movie more because it's Marvel or because it's Brie.

 

I typed "Brie Larson" into the YouTube search bar and one of the suggestions was "Brie Larson white men"

Hurley might be the best of Weezers bad albums.

Honestly, I prefer Iron Man 3 over Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man & the Wasp.

It's a solid prototype for the Guardians films & Ragnarok, and while it's not quite fully realized, it's a ton of fun as it is.

Maybe I should mark my calendar now for Endgame's release, Far From Home's release, & Christmas, when I'll inevitably rehash this conversation yet again.

 

The fact that so many people still view Iron Man 3 as a bad movie will never stop baffling me

 

I can't help but think that so much of the dislike for IM3 has to come from the Mandarin twist.

 

There was a lot more to dislike than just the twist. I love most of Shane Black's stuff, making it extra disappointing.

 

Which is wild because you'd think that comic fans of all people would be able to separate different universes from each other and appreciate that the movies often try to change things up to keep it interesting. It's like being angry that the Ultimate or 2099 versions of characters are different from the originals.

 

Exactly. Some of the MCU changes are pretty decent (like Hawkeye's suit). And also, I'm kind of glad they didn't do the real Mandarin because it would have been really easy for that character to come off as offensive. What IM3 does with Tony't PTSD adds some real development to his character. It's not a top tier MCU movie for me, but it's not at the bottom either.

 

I respect the guts it took to do what they did with the Mandarin in Iron Man 3. And it was retconned anyway so I don't understand where the hate still comes from.

 

I used to too, but man, I really can't stop thinking about all that gross stuff from The Predator these days.

 

Can we talk about the actual movie now? I think this was a good movie, few typical "Marvel" issues here and there but overall, I really liked it. Also Brie Larson is THE perfect cast for Captain Marvel.

 

Absolutely. That was beyond awful. I have friends that are Tourette's activists and advised them to please not watch it.

 

I will never stop rolling my eyes at all the hurt and whining men on Twitter complaining Brie "attacked men" and "is a feminazi who is ruining Marvel."

I can't wait to see it. I'm pumped.

 

Haven't seen the movie so I'm not familiar with how tourettes in portrayed in it, but I'm surprised Shane Black did a bad job with it since he (at least claims to) have a tourettes diagnosis himself.

The hiring a sex offender friend was beyond gross though

 

Hard to talk about it when 99% of people haven't seen it yet lol

 

I'll be down to talk about the movie tomorrow, seeing it tonight at 10:30 like I said yesterday.
