Surprised there's no thread for this album yet. Not sure what the interest is around here but I'm excited.

I really liked his debut. Looking forward to this. I can't believe it's been over four years between releases. Wow.

I’m excited for this! Some great tunes on his debut, and the ones he released last year were very solid as well

Been looking forward to hearing new stuff from him for a while. There were about 4-5 on the debut that I adore, and all of the released tracks sound great so far. I hope he continues with songs like Jackie and Wilson.

Had it on in the background this morning, and really enjoyed it. I've got a long flight Sunday night, and plan to give it some more time then. At first blush, it feels a little long (though I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of 14 track albums).

love his debut but this was so unengaging for me, damn

some really good songs on here but I wish there were fewer songs from his last couple EPs

It's just a little too long for me. There's no bad songs per se, but some of the ones that don't make a real statement kind of bloat up the album, and then waiting to hear the stand outs get a little tedious. I think he could've trimmed this down and released a few more of the album tracks as b-sides, maybe on the Movement single or something. I don't think there's any outright bad tracks, but there's too many on the album.

yeah his debut already felt a little bit long at 13 tracks, 14 is just too many and there's not nearly the same level of stylistic diversity on this album. I'm fine with "Shrike" making the cut, it's one of his best songs, but kicking the album off with a song we heard over a year ago that doesn't really represent the album starts thing with a bit of a sour taste already

    Agreed.

Personally, I'm not really a fan of Movement but I won't argue it being on there. I'd definitely make As It Was a b-side, probably Would That I and Sunlight too.

    overrated lush

I can't actually believe how underwhelmed I am by this record. There's nothing wrong with it, but none of the songs are really sticking out to me. Was a huge fan of his first record and just figured taking over four years to make another record meant that it'd be on another level. This feels like a true sophomore slump.

despite all my complaints I will say "Almost" and title track are two of his all-time best so I'm happy with that

I completely agree with everything in here. I think he could have trimmed down, particularly in the middle third of the record, and given us a super tight 10-12 track real piece of work. Or even, God forbid, keep those 3-4 songs and use them as the kicking off point for a new record. I could say which ones I'd drop, because I like all the songs. The opener is one of my favorites, but I agree that it doesn't really represent the record, which is a shame. Regardless, I can't really complain about having more of his music in the world.

    The rivalry is back on

No one has mentioned how great Dinner and Diatribes is and I’m here to change that

I adjusted it a little to my liking.
Here's the resequence I ended up with:

    1. Dinner & Diatribes
    2. No Plan
    3. Nobody
    4. Almost (Sweet Music)
    5. As It Was
    6. To Making Noise (Sing)
    7. Talk
    8. Would That I
    9. Be
    10. Wasteland, Baby!

And if you're curious about how I got there...
I ended up cutting the Nina EP songs because despite being some of the best on the album, that EP has been out long enough to feel like it's own thing, and there's already a whole albums worth of brand new songs. I also cut Movement because I'm just not a fan, and Sunlight, because I wanted to keep it to ten songs and didn't think it added much. Finally, adjusted the tracklisting for flow.
