I found the percentage of offensive plays that the quarterback was the passer or rusher compared to every other play such as running back rushing the ball, trick plays with other players throwing the ball, fake punt rushes/passes, etc... I'm sure there are some mistakes, oversights, and/or rounding errors but I'm pretty confident this is as close to perfect as I can get without working on it for over an hour. Also, for quarterbacks who played in 11-15 games, I manually deducted stats from the games they didn't play in to try to keep it consistent.

    Thoughts?

    1. Newton - 69.33%
    2. Roethlisberger - 69.22%
    3. Rodgers - 68.82%
    4. Winston - 67.99%
    5. Cousins - 67.50%
    6. Ryan - 66.84%
    7. Mahomes - 66.18%
    8. Wentz - 65.71%
    9. Luck - 65.43%
    10. Dalton - 65.02%
    11. Manning - 63.55%
    12. Mayfield - 63.10%
    13. Keenum - 62.51%
    14. Prescott - 62.28%
    15. Watson - 61.82%
    16. Bortles - 61.80%
    17. Carr - 61.38%
    18. Smith - 60.79%
    19. Stafford - 60.48%
    20. Darnold - 60.42%
    21. Goff - 59.22%
    22. Tannehill - 58.85%
    23. Trubisky - 58.71%
    24. Rivers - 57.99%
    25. Brady - 56.58%
    26. Brees - 55.85%
    27. Mariota - 54.18%
    28. Wilson - 51.40%

There are a handful of things that jump out to me immediately, but I'll put them in my next post.

I know I joked about the steelers drafting marquise brown but I legitimately did not know that he's ABs cousin

    1. The gap between #1 and #28 is nearly 20% of plays, which is around 180-200 plays over the course of a season, or about 10-12 per game. That's a pretty large margin.

    2. I was surprised to see Wilson at the bottom, considering how amazing he is at passing and rushing, but I guess Chris Carson was much more impressive than I realized until now.

    3. Six of the top ten quarterbacks (Newton, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, Wentz, Luck, and Dalton) all have extensive injury histories, whether it's missing large swaths of games often or are seemingly always nursing multiple injuries and missing a game or two every season.

    4. Two of the bottom ten quarterbacks (Tannehill and Mariota) are the only ones who have extensive injury histories like above.

    5. On first blush, I'd venture that the lower half of quarterbacks have better and more innovative head coaches and offensive philosophies than the top half. Of the top half, I'd say there are only maybe three or four who could say that.

    6. There's no correlation between rank position and wins so this exercise was a bit pointless, but I kind of expected that!

That's all for now, thanks for reading!!!

    :)

This is a good deal. His contracts ranks between 17th and 35th in average salary per year for tight ends.

He is probably only average or so in skill, but he'll demand LB coverage and brings tons of veteran experience and knowledge.
