If you want more than one opinion can’t you just read more than one review? Nothing against “group reviews” but it’s not like they’re that novel. Like Vase also said, many podcast have basically been that.

Personally I’m mostly “experienced” enough to know what I’ll like, but if not there’s some media/industry people whose opinions I trust (different people depending on the type of game). No fucking “influencers” though.

Are any of them on PS4?

 

I avoid a lot of written reviews because for a time I found a lot to be either be written poorly and with extreme bias or written in a way that ultimately suffers and collapses on itself from trying to be "sophisticated" or "intellectual" to the point of being annoying.

I just like the casual breakdowns that groups like Game Scoop, Kinda Funny, etc do because it just feels organic and how I would talk to my friends about games. I also just like the camaraderie.

I'm sure there are great people out there who do wonderful written reviews, but that's just not how I get my fix now.

 

They are all on PS4. 1-3 in the HD collection and DmC and 4 are standalone.

 

1-3 + 4 often goes on sale in a bundle on the PS store. Got them all for £17.99 recently

I can't remember if it was DMC4 or DMC I played last, but I fucking hated the platforming. It was horrible and I gave up.

 

They are actually pretty solid too. (Disclaimer: this is coming from someone who never played the originals on released, but they seemed like good ports to me)

 

Digitally, DmC for PS4 is $39.99, DMC4 is $24.99, and the 1-3 Collection is $29.99. I'd look for them cheaper elsewhere if you can.

 

4 has some truly awful platforming sections lol. The series has had so many flaws and quirks but the combat is so good that it’s easy to love regardless.

it does get better everytime you look at it

 

so i started playing witcher yesterday on ps4 and spent like 30 minutes figuring out my display setup.

right now i only have the life bar and the minimap (and the food list in the bottom left because i don’t know how to get rid of it). i am so tempted to remove the minimap but I’m not sure if it’s worth doing. depending on how confusing the map is.

in botw i was able to do it because the places were well designed enough. is it the same here? i’m planning to just rely on witcher sense every now and then. hopefully that should be enough.

i think my problem with open world games is the amount of clutter on screen. if there’s too much distraction it takes me away from the immersion and it lessens my enjoyment

I remember the map being important. Navigation is not great in that game. Also I turned on color blind mode for the Witcher sense even though I’m not color blind and thought it was a lot better.
