One of the worst reviews I've read in recent memory.

 

all albums get 3-4 except all Bruce Springsteen gets 5. That's basically their whole thing, haha

 

About as helpful as the review you guys posted the other day where the people hadn't actually heard the album.

 

3.5 stars from RS? Damn, not bad.

I remember Gym Class Heroes' last album got 1 and a half stars. I actually agreed with that though lol

I remember saying the same thing when early reactions of Bored to Death were hitting the web. You learn very quickly how differently people hear music (or in this specific case, Blink 182).

 

Also I remember some radio dj being like "oh, it's definitely a Mark song" and it's basically 50/50. Lol you really can't decide anything on what a person says.

 

Honestly though, can someone get their electric guitar out and drag it face-down across a carpet? I wanna know what that song sounds like dammit!

 

Seriously. Can no one talk about this album beyond songs we've already heard and interchangeable colorful terms?

 

Sort of related, but I was just thinking today how cool it was that the new guy sings the first chorus to their lead single. It probably wasn't a calculated move but it's pretty damn cool that it happened.

 

Most music reviews are poorly written like that. There was only one Lester Bangs

 

Music reviews are like major film reviews to me: Generally uninformed, biased, going to affect your normal opinion when you finally do experience what's getting reviewed for yourself, and likely the exact opposite of what your opinion is when you think about it

 

Man he likely would not have thought highly of blink-182

 

Yeah I love that they gave Skiba the first chorus. Really thought the first song would be 100% Mark. I know they said it was the first song they recorded and the label picked it, so definitely wasn't calculated on the band's part. Not like the old stories about how their labels said nope, go back and made them write specific radio hits. So both band and label showed total trust in Matt. Love it.

 

There are still excellent film reviews out there. I can't really say the same for a lot of music

 

accept bias in reviews, it always exists and it's not a bad thing.

I didn't read the RS review but it's a little weird that there's so much sniping about critics in here after a favorable review

 

It's because of how it's written, not because of their opinion. If you check they don't actually say anything about the record really.
