college basketball is so much more fun. At least it kind of lets the little guys have a chance. But the UCF’s and Boise State’s of football will never get a shot. Super boring

 

Yeah, that's a no go aha. I think Delilah would be funny or I think may just go with my first instinct and keep it basic with something like Hammer To Fall.

Edit: Actually some of them are closer to $100 round trip too

 

Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon or Seaside Rendezvous are both really zany songs that kids would love, haha

I agree that the gameplay of NFL has gotten more similar to college, but the parity of competition is a lot better. Even with the Patriots gatekeeping the AFC.

Bad teams play good teams close pretty regularly in the NFL, most teams at least decently know what they’re doing and how to do damage control, usually there’s maybe only 5-6 teams in the league who have a bunch of losses that got out of hand

 

But I mean the bowl game system is also fun to me, I get that it's kinda "participation trophy" esque, but it's cool to have that "championship game" to look forward to outside of the national championship

 

I went to Penn State and only went to one game during the four years I was there. I have such a hard time with how the team composition changes so quickly in college sports.

Like 99 times out of 100, if my team loses a college football game, I know we should've lost because it's very very obvious the other team was just better. But in the NFL so much can come down to one play or one bad call. There isn't a college game that I feel THAT "Myles Jack was down" about.

 

This is a thing too! You can have amazing players and then they’re gone in 2 years haha. Player familiarity and loyalty gives the NFL strong themes and storylines that give you more reason to be attached to a team

 

Then you can reverse it and root for those players to take off in the NFL!

I'm probably in the minority but I happen to think college football is awful.

 

Yeah I don’t believe for a second the raiders really want Derek Carr to be their franchise QB. Hell, Derek Carr probably doesn’t even want that either

 

Idk, in my opinion more drama is better unless it’s artificial and not a natural outcome (Myles Jack WASNT down.) Penalties and wrong calls are the hardest thing to come to terms with in the NFL though, I certainly agree that the officiating is a huge drag sometimes.

I want to believe my team can win any given game. I don’t want to see Alabama on the schedule and be like “well fuck, time for 3 hours of my team embarrassing themselves”.

It’s more fun when things are suspenseful and hard to predict - sometimes it’s hard as fuck to swallow when you’re on the losing end of something so close, but that’s what makes it so passionate and being a good sport is just part of it.

And besides, even if flukes happen here and there, generally it all balances out over long periods of time. Everyone faces adversity, the best coaches know how to respond and although everyone makes mistakes, the good ones get it “right” and stay patient & don’t panic a lot more often.

Not to bring up this example yet again because I sound like an annoying child, but that's what makes being pitted against the Georgias of the world, expected to lose, and coming out the other side a victor feel so much better. (or in a good Matt example, UCF whooping Auburn) A win in college football is unbelievably rewarding when you're matched up against a "better team".

But I do understand your point of course.
