So a few of these songs have already made appearances live, haven't they? Obviously Rylan, Light Years too, and maybe So Fast So Numb?

 

The pitchfork review for the new single said something about the “most narrow focus in indie rock”

This is out exactly 6 years after twfm came out

 

This song is very pretty. I think Sleep Well Beast is my favorite album, so really looking forward to this one. Who could have expected 16 new songs less than 2 years after the last one? Amazing

Signed up, sorted out. I'm holding off on the CT edition of the new album for the moment but what matters most is I'll have access to the European presale today and I am VIBRATING with excitement. :3

 

So Far So Fast, you mean, and yes that was played a few times on their European run last year, as well as a bunch of other places. Rylan, Light Years and Quiet Light have all been played as recently as last year too!

 

They played Rylan and Light Years in Madison last year too!

imo trouble will find me is them perfecting the sound that started on boxer

 

they were "once the most narrowly focused indie rock band in existence," which i think pretty well characterizes the boxer/high violet/trouble era

"narrow focus" =/= bad, they were gradually refining a specific aesthetic

There's great stuff on every album of theirs, but for my money, Boxer is their masterpiece.

Though, in all fairness, a lot of subjectivity & timing play into that. With how hard I fell for that album 10+ years ago (thanks to the Pink Moon-avatared IWasaCamera on AP.net), it'd be unfair to expect another album from this band to do the same thing for me. I still remember going to their MySpace, listening to "Fake Empire," & having to go to FYE quickly afterwards so I could hear the whole thing.

 

He got me into quite a few bands I still love today. More than any one person ever has before or since.

 

Where and when are we starting the National / Vampire Weekend rivalry.

 

Pitchfork hates anything that doesn't wow them as something new.
