Butler is actually almost as physically talented, he’s 6’5” 228 and he ran a 4.47 and jumped 36.

Harmon is an excellent route runner & better at tracking the ball than Metcalf in my opinion. He unfortunately didn’t test super well athletically, but he knows how to get open vertical, over the middle, Short etc and has more consistent / strong hands in traffic.

JJAW is the biggest bully imo haha. I could see Metcalf being better but he’s also two rounds more expensive.

 

I don't put a ton of stock into this but it's fun

 

Metcalf also has by far the highest ceiling of those guys

High risk high reward. Boom or bust. Call it what you want to call it but it is a thing. We are in range to get several players who are more of a sure thing in round 1.

Usually a receiver that didn’t do much against LSU or Bama when he was at Ole Miss that then got hurt would not be the guy @CarpetElf is all over. I find it curious that he likes Metcalf haha. He often makes the argument “the other WR in that offense was better”, which appears true of AJ Brown... and often takes injury history very seriously.

Especially since we just spent a 2 rounder on DJ Chark from LSU, who also ran a low 4.3 at 6’4”, to develop into that big downfield deep target. Like, that’s the whole reason why I think we could just draft a possession receiver later.

I’d rather spend our round 1 on either a QB, a T to solidify our line, or one of the like, 12 defensive studs available to keep our defense sustainable and shed a big contract or two.

We're signing Foles to a multiyear deal. We arent taking a QB in the first. I would rather take White or Oliver or Taylor for sure but Metcalf is not a bad pick.

 

Once in awhile I disagree with the consensus. it’s not a huge deal to be wrong sometimes haha, at least my opinions are honest and I don’t just go with whatever I hear. Hindsight is 20/20 but I have my doubts/concerns before I’ve seen him live up to the hype.

 

If its not a huge deal you may wanna try it out sometime ;)

 

I’m alright with this perspective. I mean I wouldn’t be mad at the pick either but it’s not the outcome I feel safest about / most comfortable with. If a team wanted to trade up to 7 for Metcalf I’d take the trade because I perceive better value in getting a defensive stud in the teens.

If we traded down and Metcalf was still there I’d def be happy with the pick. But at 7 idk. Better options are available.
