yuuuuup, based on that Winter Soldier line (spoiler tagged for speculation) his "last time i trusted someone i lost an eye," Fury's gonna get fooled by a Skrull and attacked or something. i can see it coming already

 

I pretty much assumed that just given what we know about who is playing who. That said, would be rad if Marvel pulls a twist.

 

IDK why the embargo isn't lifting until the 5th.

Aside from Infinity War hasn't Marvel lifted embargos weeks before a lot of phase 3 films?

I remember Black Panther's getting lifted over two weeks in advance. Maybe CM has some big reveals?

 

This is also a good time to mention that MRA/anti-CM users are sharing spoilers of the movie all over Reddit and other comments sections in hopes of ruining it for the rest of us. I usually stay out of the comments until I've seen it.

 

The force awakens was spoiled for me on a game grumps youtube video comment section after it had been out 1 day. This is very true, stay off all comment sections haha

 

I like to believe there's a special section reserved in hell for those who get their rocks off spoiling movies.

 

I get my spoilers r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers but they haven’t received any yet so some of the circulating spoilers may be fake.

I wouldn’t be surprised if people made up “spoilers” to try to get terrible ideas about the plot to go around.

 

Good to know. I just won advance screening tickets for Tuesday, but I'll keep my mouth shut!

 

It's so much better watch with no spoilers. I'm not going until Saturday night, but I'm keeping out of this thread until then. haha

 

I found out this weekend that I get to attend the premier tonight in Hollywood. I don't get to dress up in cosplay and be on the red carpet like my wife will, but needless to say I'm still incredibly excited. I'll try and take as many pictures as I can before I go into the screening and I'll post them here when I can.

 

Got a group of 15 or so with church friends ready to see this on Saturday. I've been re-watching the trailers in slow-mo to see if I catch stuff I didn't see previously.

 

Bought my ticket to see it Saturday. Super excited.

Somewhat more mixed than I had figured

 

Same. After looking at a few I'm going to try to avoid reading anymore so I can go in fresh when I see it Saturday.

 

Really surprised at how mixed the reaction to this is.

 

Doesn’t seem that mixed...88% on RT with 50 reviews in. Seems like it has a bad case of MCU Origin Story Syndrome tho.

 

I never expect to like or dislike a comic book movie based on anyone else's tastes anymore. But, the specifics of this reflect concerns I had early on in the marketing enough to lower my expectations. Carol feeling like she's at a distance from everything is especialy concerning. I'm sure it's gonna be really fun, but I'm concerned I'll leave this feeling movie like it's a trailer for Carol's Winter Solider/Ragnarok.

Hope that's not the case!

Oh cool so now we're all pretending like we don't know how Rotten Tomatoes works. The simple up-or-down verdict doesn't always reflect the actual content of the reviews. A movie could get B- or C+ grades from every outlet and be listed at 100% fresh. Even the positive reviews for this are largely not glowing endorsements and come with reservations.

It has a good percentage on RT but the way it works it just means that many reviewers gave it a fresh rating and anything above 60% is fresh. The reviews I saw individual sites are giving it a lot of 3/5, 3/4. Which is still good. I just kind of expected this to get higher scores.

 

60% or better, but it also depends on what the critic submits it as. A critic could give a movie a C+ grade and tell them to list it as rotten just to lower the tomatometer score. I've seen it happen a bunch.
