Haven’t heard this yet BUT I think Wildlife is the more cinematic, immersive experience whereas Rooms is concise and to the point in a satisfying way

    Sleekest of beaks. So Good.

About the same as mine I would replace VIEW FROM OUR BEDROOM WINDOW with ANXIETY PANORAMA.
Not a bad song on this thing though.

Rhodonite and Grief is a masterpiece.

  13. Wildlife is a great record but my tastes more align with what LD did on Rooms and what they created on this record. I'd be disappointed if they were still writing in the same style as Wildlife 8 years later

Wildlife is a great record that I can only get through like once a year

I love all La Dispute. But i love each record better than the last. Which is personal preference for me. I only joke about there being bad opinions.

I think Wildlife is a fair bit better than Rooms which is significantly better than this.

Ooooohhhh! That makes me very excited to hear this.

I agree with all of this.

this is a very apt way to put it. although I still prefer Rooms, because it had a little longer to gestate than this record so it might just be more, uh, broken in.

I like Wildlife more than Rooms but I loved the progression they made on that album. Part of why I'm disappointed with this new one is that it doesn't seem like they've really changed much in the last five years. This album kind of feels like a worse version of Rooms to me.

I think there’s a lot here that improves on what they did on Rooms

I enjoy the mix way more on this album. I love that the guitars sort of push back until the moment it goes off, and then once it goes off its like a brick wall of guitars hitting you. Also not a ton of distortion on the guitars, they break up just enough to feel heavy but not to loose their clarity.

yeah getting the amount of distortion just right is no small feat and yip does it right every time.

  24. The production here makes these songs feel flat and lifeless to my ears. Also wish Jordan’s vocals were mixed higher. Rooms feels much more expansive and interesting. I struggled getting through this one upon first listen, which I’m bummed about :/

    u wut m8?

I connect more to the lyrical content of this record. Rooms just never clicked no matter how many times I listen to it.
