Herb should know a lot better. This is unacceptable no matter how bad it looked on camera.

 

We need a better angle on that. Robbie could've eventually went out from the choke anyway but it didn't look like he had it THAT deep under the chin.

 

I can’t believe Askren even got in the position to choke him out after how that started

I'm all for people calling out Dana, but Askren seems like a real douche.

 

I honestly thought he was out watching live.

 

Robbie didn’t let his hand hit the mat and actually extended his thumb out. Sucks the call went the way it did. I understand how it looked to Herb though.

 

Yeah exactly. He saw Robbie hold his hand up after getting checked and still stopped it. That's unacceptable.

 

Arm went limp, ref asked if he was good, no thumbs up or anything.

Watching a replay in slow mo makes it easier for us to decide. Watching live he definitely looked out.

As someone who only watches UFC casually..... If he wasn't out at that exact moment, wouldn't he have kept the headlock on? Could Lawler have escaped or was it gonna end seconds later?

 

And even if he escaped that specific hold Askren would’ve still been on him.

 

Dana has hammered on Askren for years and years and years so I got no beef with Askren taking his shots.

Example:

 

Lawler was in a really bad position with a top level grappler. It's entirely possible that he got out but the choke from that angle looked deep so it's also likely that it would've ended shortly after.

I wish we had a side view to get a better look at the choke.

 

This is super tough. Robbie was obviously fine afterwards but I honestly thought he was out. In the moment I started celebrating because I thought he was going out when I saw the hand drop. So I cannot blame Herb in the least.

As Cruz and Rogan said, it was an understandable mistake but it was an error. That situation honestly cheated all of us including both fighters.
