this has to do with me misunderstanding the meaning of the word yesterday.

    I'm being mocked for it.

Jon definitely wasn't mocking you, but okay?

It's just usually a shitty situation, the hard working blue collar class gets booted out of their city for the upper 1% who own multiple homes thoughout the country probably.

Yeah, I mean, I don't know Asbury very well, so it's hard for me to say. It feels more like a renaissance rather than affluent people coming in and just trying to change everything.

I don't think anyone is talking about Asbury gentrification, but moreso the gentrification of Mexican food/restaurants

From what i've seen it's definitely been a genuine "Lets make this city what it once was" then turning it into another fucking Hoboken.

Gotcha, i'm not too familiar with that, would gentrifying mexican food/restaurants basically mean Americanizing it?

And every time I bring up chipotle, that word gets used. that is what I am getting at here.

It's not bashing it or you though Julie, it's taking an honest look at what it stands for, ya know?

Bro you and I are fine. This has nothing to do with anything you've said. Promise.

Okay, being sarcastic about it is really helping?

Because it's a textbook example of gentrification? Like, nobody is trying to shame you for eating there. It's literally just being talked about how if possible it's better to support local Mexican restaurants as opposed to them.

Idk never been there. But I will say that the lgbt neighborhoods I've been to are absolutely gentrified. In an older area, new trendy apartments with high rent, and cool little shops that the people that lived there 20 years ago could def not afford now

Yeah i'd say Asbury is probably on it's way there, it's right next to this small beach town named Deal which is legit one of the richest areas in the whole country.

are you unable to handle Sarcastic remarks from me? Cause I've been this way for many years. I apologize.

and I apologize again for not understanding the meaning of a word I've never used or seen until yesterday.

No, I just think being sarcastic in a discussion about a serious topic isn't the best time for it.

Like, genuinely any time I bring up something to try and talk about an issue/educate on anything it always seems to be a problem with you and it bums me out. sorry.

Look at these fucking properties, this is Deal. Right next to where I went to college.

Also maybe a mile or three away from Asbury

If you're gonna be that rich why would you make such a shitty looking house

Chipotle, Moe's, and Qdoba all seem like Tex-mex to me more so than Mexican haha, but that's besides the point. It's always better to eat local. Always. Then again, I do eat Chipotle sometimes and Taco Bell. I mean, Taco Bell literally stole their concept/food from a real Mexican restaurant in San Berardino. Glen Bell. That piece of shit.

I feel like if I was rich I would just own a bunch of useless shit and not care that much about house size/how weird it looks haha

don't assume i have an issue with every single thing you talk about. It is the way i was treated yesterday. Like i'm some kind of moron. I honestly didn't know what the damn word meant or why I was being made to feel like i was wrong for eating chipotle. that's it.

You don't have to say sorry to me.

I'm just coming from a place where I had to shift from being too defensive to becoming teachable a few years ago, it took alot of humility for me to do it but I am such a better person for it now. Just try to change it from saying "it's not my fault, i didn't know" to "tell me more about it". Most people on this site are happy to explain what they are talking about if you just ask. Not all, but most
