Was TAITA the first album you heard by them?

Vheissu, actually. Heard all the TAITA/TIOS singles back during the Fuse era that launched so many of these bands, though.

Same question for you: Was TAITA the first Thrice record you heard?

It was for me. That definitely has a lot to do with why it's number 1 far and away on my list.

Fuse played TIoS singles? I don't recall that. I remember them playing TAITA's singles without a doubt. Or, did you just mean during that time period?

Meant more of that time period. I think I had Deadbolt on a compilation or something I got at Warped, too?

TAITA is an album that bonded me and my cousin (we're pretty isolated from the rest of our family), and had the songs that got me through quite a bit of my high school depression experience. That alone is pretty important, but at the same time, it's just a hell of a great album to turn up loud, bounce around with an air guitar, and belt at the top of your lungs.

I heard Under A Killing Moon on the Warped 2003 compilation, then bought TAITA soon afterwards. It's been one of my favorites ever since. I think it absolutely holds up to this day. It's not my favorite Thrice album, but it's a very important one.

Awhile back I stated heavy Thrice is the best Thrice, but from everyone's top 5 I suppose I was wrong lol.
    For Me:
    1. For Miles
    2. The Messenger
    3. Under a Killing Moon
    4. Burn the Fleet
    5. The Abolition of Man (that ending.......)

As far as the sequence of songs on the new album, I think it's great how it is. I kind of wish Death from above was right after Black Honey. After the intense ending of that song, it'd be nice to go into another heavier track for the album instead of breaking it up with Stay with Me. I haven't tried to listen to it in that order though, so not sure if it would flow or not.

Here's a fun one maybe. Let's say Thrice was playing an opening slot for someone and they decided to play one song from each release, what would you pick for them to play in any order. I'm going to count Fire/Water as one and Air/Earth as one.

    1. Phoenix Ignition
    2. Deadbolt
    3. The Messenger
    4. Silhouette
    5. Daedalus
    6. All The World is Mad
    7. Yellow Belly
    8. Black Honey
    9. The Earth Will Shake

Another Challenge: Try building a set like this in order of each album's release.

I get people are tired of hearing it live for some reason, but it's a damn good song.....like all their songs. I'd never be disappointed to hear it live.

The problem is that I don't think the new album has any song that'd be a good closer, esp over something like the Earth Will Shake. My set would pretty much stay the same though:

    1. Phoenix Ignition
    2. Deadbolt
    3.Silhouette
    4. The Earth Will Shake
    5. The Messenger
    6. Daedalus
    7. All The World is Mad
    8. Yellow Belly
    9. Hurricane

Even though I like Black Honey better, Hurricane is pretty epic sounding and sing alongy, so I guess it would make a better closer than any other songs on there.

The long defeat would be a great closer

I love that song and it's my 2nd favorite song on the album, but I disagree. The drawn out ending would make a cool thing live, but I think it'd go better with the band kicking into another song rather than them just walking off stage and being done. I guess a closer should be epic and leave you wanting more though.....so I wouldn't be against it.

Have you seen it? I could see the crowd chanting the end as they left the stage.. He encourages the crowd to get involved at the end and I think it could work... If we are Looking for a closer on this record this is the one I would pick.. Could see black honey getting there too

If we're not going by album release, I think these would be the songs I'd most like to see:

    1. Hurricane
    2. The Messenger
    3. Under a Killing Moon
    4. Yellow Belly
    5. Daedalus
    6. Of Dust and Nations
    7. Deadbolt
    8. Beggars

Mostly heavy stuff, because I think that would make a more immediate impression. I think Image of the Invisible would make a great opener in this scenario, but Hurricane is just too great.

Saw them at Starland saturday night. Killed it. And they played about 5-6 songs off the new album, sounded amazing live. Better than on the album, seems like everyone knew them already too which was awesome.

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

It really would! How much of your Philly crowd knew that song? The end was so freakin good in NJ, the band and lights faded out, all of a sudden it sounded like half of the venue was singing along with Dustin during the final three measures. Amazing for a new song that wasn't released as a single, fans connected with it in a live setting way more powerfully than I thought they would have this early on.
