I feel you @AelNire. I was gutted to see 241.5 when I woke up yesterday. Only to see 238 when I woke up today

I'm having a very hard time with dieting and working out the last few weeks. It's the first thing my depression attacks and I'm just so exhausted from fighting that I don't wanna exert at the gym or eat non-lazily.

Anyone try a bluetooth scale that they've liked? Looking for something I can use with mfp specifically

Back to forward progress. Down to 236 this morning. Now I can stop hyperventilating and go back to only weighing myself on Sundays

Everyone has bumps in the roads. Keep trying.

Lost 2 more pounds this week and got my 2.5 stone award. Off to Glastonbury Festival next week where I'm going to eat whatever I like because the food is amazing.

it's really quite strange when clothes that were previously shelved because they no longer fit feel comfortable again.

Did an 8.5 mile hike today on the toughest trail in the reservation and made a major rookie mistake. Only brought 24 oz of water. End of that was a struuuuuuuuggle.

so here's something weird / scary / wild:

yesterday i wasn't able to do too much at the gym. my knee and shoulder started bugging me so instead of trying to push through i placed it safe and stopped. i was unhappy with that / myself / my body but i figure most would in such a scenario. well, today i felt like crap all day. no energy, no ambition, generally kind of felt hungover or downright depressed. napped on and off all day and didn't seem to enjoy or recall doing anything.

somehow i get my ass to the gym and am able to get my 3 mile run in with no real pain.

my concern: am i / is it possible to be addicted to exercise already and that my "bad" day yesterday caused me to be all moody and negative today until i was able to exercise? if so, i'm fucking terrified because i don't want to wind up abandoning everything in my life (which is, uh, reading and writing and sleeping and netflix and eating, but still!) just to get some constant high from exercising.

It's always a good call to listen to your body. If you're at the gym and it says stop (and you'll know the difference between "stop right now" and "grit your teeth and go for one more rep" better than you realize -- a lot of people say discomfort vs pain, but it's really whatever you're body is saying to YOU), stop right away. Our bodies are incredibly attuned to what should be and what should not be. This is why it's really common for exhausted people to get sick, because the body is aware of when someone should really stop and rest, etc. Pain is another indicator.

Your body will be addicted to exercise because health creates a better functioning life. Your fears are a little ungrounded because of this weird "lie" that we're told when it comes to exercise, ie more is more and less is nothing. In reality, you need ~30 minutes of elevated heart rate. Anything more is bonus. 3 miles in 30 minutes is very common pacing and not time consuming. Commit to half an hour and then adjust as you want.

    beautiful and chequered, the end

so past two weeks i have been the most active ive been in a while, made sure to hit my 10,000 steps MINIMUM every single day, was walking an hour and half home from work as much as possible. On top of that I started dieting and was eating the healthiest i think ive ever eaten. Cut all snacks/candy/sugar from my daily habits and was eating on average 1800 calories a day. Doing this has been an absolute challenge, every day logging every single calorie I in took was a chore, but I kept up with it. When I went to go my weigh my self I found out i had actually somehow gained 4 pounds since I started. Don't think I've ever felt so defeated. I think a major problem is the anti-anxiety med's I am on are known for causing massive weight gain, and make it very hard to lose weight while on it. Honestly no idea where to go from here, I am going to keep up with the being active/eating healthy but if I dont see results soon im not sure if I will have the motivation anymore. this fucking sucks.

Haha, dude that is terrible! I did a hike just as long and brought 2L (around 70 oz). Drink more water! Especially in June when it's hot as hell out.

EDIT: This is what I use:

Day 1 of the couch to 5k app. It was tough, but about the amount it should be. I wasn't in distress like when I tried this in September.

Very surprised that the burn in my legs and soreness in my shins was more of a hurdle than being winded.

No way, you can carry way more water, have a place to keep your keys, phone, wallet, etc., can carry food, bug spray, a bunch of stuff.. they are amazing. If you're on a hike, I'm sure you'll see others wearing the same exact thing.

How old are your shoes? Might want to get those checked out if your shins are hurting.

A year maybe? Someone else told me I should probably go to Marathon Sports where they legit look at your gait and contact points and shit

Your legs will adapt pretty quickly. The first time that I did C25K, I was very shocked with the cramps in my side became a thing for a bit, as I expected winded more than anything.

I'm feeling a bit down, as I can't afford my gym membership at the moment so I'm not sure how I'm gonna keep working towards my goals.

Yeah those cramps in my back and side were so bad when I tried it in the fall that I had to take breaks. Today just got one moderate one. Do they ever go away as you get used to it?

And don't let it beat you, man. There are so many apps out there and so much you can do at home.

Yeah, they definitely get better. Not sure I ever got them after I made the first 30 minute run. All in the build up. And the other day (after 18 months off from running), I ran three miles and didn't have any pain at all, legs or side cramps, or get winded. It was weird, but maybe once you're past it you're past it for good.

It's definitely worth it to let them measure and stuff. I did it bc I have serious arches in my foot.

    it finally happened.

somewhat occupied gym, but almost no one on the treadmills (where i live) and some fuck uses the treadmill next to me. which mind you, there was an empty one between me and another guy and this weirdo uses the one in between us like he's afraid to be seen or wants to start a gym gang or some nonsense.

the best part was that everyone on the other side of the gym noticed it right away and gave him eyebrows or shakes of the head.

    KNOW YOUR GYM ETIQUETTE!

Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

When this happens to me I make it a point to stay on the machine longer than them. For whatever reason, I get this competitive urge to out exercise that person. Don't ask me why. But it keeps me going even when I want to get off.
