"Weezer now just covering, older, better Weezer songs for your love and attention"

this is literally any old band playing any of their older songs in any context

Sweet! Another Tiny Desk concert to look forward to, as Meg Myers' should be released soon as well

Honestly same haha they did kind of lose me for a bit with Raditude and Hurley but have been back on board since Everything Will Be Alright In the End. And even still Raditude and Hurley have some great songs.

This album imo has some of the best examples of Weezer pushing outside their “core sound” and it actually being really good. There’s a couple somewhat duds for me, but I love it a lot more than I thought I would.

Yeah same to all of this. It's weird cause as great as White was, it feels like this is the peak of my fandom I guess since Maladroit. It's pretty much 4 albums of consistency and kinda like they've built back up their goodwill and I'm cool with them pretty much doing whatever. Like if they're doing poppy stuff it feels like they've nailed down for the most part what suits them and they aren't really forcing it. Through those down times, didn't think I would ever be enjoying them again like I am now.

Exactly this. I think there are elements of Red/Raditude/Hurley that seem forced in a way the more recent albums haven’t. Rivers seems super comfortable and confident now and I think the music benefits. I was enamored when Everything Will Be Alright came out and I’m listening again for the first time in a while and loving it. There are some great solos, particularly The British Are Coming.

not sure about Van Weezer but OK Human is the most exciting description of a Weezer album I think I've ever heard

piano-and-strings-based? yeah boy. weird-ass/eccentric lyrics? my favourite kind. recorded at Abbey Road? love it. produced by Jake Sinclair? fucking give me this.

Van Weezer sounds to me like maybe what people expected Black Album to be, more guitar, heavier

On first listen, not a ton stuck out on this album. This thread made me expect something great in the latter half of the album, but I kinda got exactly what I was expecting based on the singles leading up to the release. That being said, it's a nice listen overall and I'm sure it'll grow on me over time

They should release Van Weezer and Okay Human on the same day.

I'm now more excited for both those records (especially Okay Human) than I am for Black Album.
