I think my earliest memory of video game blood is playing Primal Rage when I was like 6. My dad used to play Doom on his computer and we would watch that too.

It's amazing how easy it was to put one over on my parents and get them to buy me games I probably shouldn't have had as a kid lol. Sucks to suck for my future kids who will never be able to do that to me haha

First video game I played that I really shouldn't have was Silent Hill when I was 8

I think that's a big part of why I don't play horror games now

my parents were way more in touch with game ratings and such than most of my friends parents were. it took a while and some serious convincing before there was any kind of violent game in the house.

My mum was a lot stricker than my dad with that stuff, and I remember when I was about 12 my dad got home and gave me a game that I wanted, my mum walked in the room sees it and going "that's an 18 he can't play that!" Then my dad goes "oh no, I must have missed that when I got it" and takes it off me. Then gave it back to me an hour later lol.

My parents gave me a hard time for asking them to buy Sum 41's Does This Look Infected? because of the album art but never questioned the video games I played.

I distinctly remember playing MK at my neighbors and it blew my mind around 9 years old.

I can't believe my mom let me get the Marshall Mathers LP when I was like 12, I begged her for like 6 months then she did haha.

my older sisters supervised me for 90% of the first thirteen years of my life, so i had access to any and every bad game or movie for as long as i can remember. i remember seeing A Nightmare on Elm Street when i was in like first grade and going in to school the next day bragging i had seen “the Freddy Cougar movie”

yet my mom wouldn’t let me rent Who Framed Roger Rabbit for the SNES because she thought Jessica Rabbit was too revealing. oh, if only she knew what i had already seen lol

My parents definitely didn't let me play anything over like a T rating until I got my Xbox 360 when I was like.. 12? But I also never really had any games I wanted to play until then I guess either. Like idk I played Tony Hawk and Sly Cooper on my PS2, and whatever other random games, but I wasn't really aware of the M rated games and all that until everyone was talking about Halo 3 coming out. It took some convincing to get my Mom on board, but I got there. My Dad was on my side luckily. But no Grand Theft Auto was allowed for a few more years, and I had to buy it myself at that point because my Mom refused (I still don't think she would ever buy it for me as a gift or anything).

My sister told my parents not to let me and my friend listen to American Idiot and I was so mad. I still don't get why she was such a snitch about it.

I remember playing Half Life when I was reeaaal young and not really understanding it but I thought it was crazy that I could just shoot a scientist’s head off. Other than that, I guess I played Halo when I was like 9 or 10 but that’s about it. Nothing too extreme.
