I have girl friends so I can’t be misogynistic is the 2019 version of I have black friends so I can’t be racist. You have multiple people telling you you are being ignorant and your only retort is I have girl friends, stop being triggered. Maybe listen to what people are telling you and learn from this experience. I’m sure your girl pop-alt-rock band will appreciate it if you do.

How? I stated that I didn't think they were that great but that my opinion shouldn't stop them from trying to gain an audience from support slots and eventual headlining tours.

I know this isn’t the fatal flaw in the argument, but using Warped Tour as a metric for success in 2019 is hysterical

 

Read my more recent post. I never said they don’t deserve the platform. I never say they don’t belong. It’s my opinion they aren’t very good. And the bands that I think are, either aren’t big enough for warped or aren’t from America so financially and logistically aren’t capable of doing warped.

 

there's been plenty of shit all dude bands from overseas that have done sizable tours of the states in the past so your argument is pretty much null and void.

Given the incredible output from female artists in the past several years, you’d have to be actively trying to hate women in music to say shit like this.

 

Yeah, the reason you don't know more female bands in this scene is BECAUSE of sexism. The fact that bands like ADTR have all the resources and funds in the world to get small-to-mid-sized female pop-punk & metal acts out their and still aren't trying is dissapointing.

That being said, to play devil's advocate-- this scene is very small, so maybe there are less touring-capable bands with women in them than we think, but I'm not in the mood to verify or disverify that claim, and still isn't an amazing excuse.

 

With first paragraph, you are right with everything you said, but you also don’t know who they’ve asked to tour with or even who their label is making them tour with.

To your second point, maybe I’m sleeping on a large number of female fronted bands, but I also can’t think of many bands sizeable enough to do warped. But if you got any female fronted bands to recommend, I’d love to check them out.

 

Just when I think things can’t get worse someone new has to prove me wrong. There’s literally a thread of female musicians here and a Wikipedia page absolutely packed with options. To say “not the warped scene” when Bebe Rehxa, Riff Raff, and Gwar have been on the tour is laughable at best.

I believe they’ve done warped twice, but they are way too theatrical now, and they might even be a tiny bit too big for warped. I did love them when I saw them last year though.

 

Bands like Gwar and Alestorm played warped in 2017. Not sure theatrics is an excuse.

The point is there have been countless bands on the tour that aren't part of "the scene," whatever the hell that means, as Warped has drastically changed numerous times through it's existence. Not even going to bother to pick examples because there are so many List of Warped Tour lineups by year - Wikipedia

Also the "not big enough" argument you made in that same previous post is laughable because it's fucking Warped Tour and the majority of every lineup has been new/developing bands who are nowhere near big, and half point of the tour is to join and expose young artists. Most of those bands aren't there to sell tickets, it's because most people are paying for the Warped brand and experience (oh and the bands labels paid for them to be there heh)

 

I’m talking about the giant light ball, light tricks, giant cave thing she walks out of, costume changes. That wouldn’t work in an outdoor venue at 12 pm

 

Mixed genre tours also exist so ya know, ADTR could branch out and have any number of female fronted bands or artists open.
