Are people here attacking other people because they choose to go see AILD? Not defending the band here but that's pretty fucked up.

Lostprophets were one of my favorite bands awhile ago and i can't listen to them anymore but i won't call out other people who still do listen.

    Thank you.

They are my all time favorite band and I’m not depriving myself of finally seeing a band that’s impacted me so greatly.

if you're knowingly putting money into the hands of a piece of shit like lambesis, then yes, you deserve to get called out for it

If the Tim Lambesis situation had been a local band or a smaller up and coming metalcore band (Dayseeker, Make Them Suffer, etc) it would effectively kill their career. And that fact alone should tell you it's wrong to support AILD in 2019.

And before anyone comes at me with the "tHe GuY seRVeD hiS tiMe. DoN't wE beLIeVe iN seCoNd chAnCes AnD rEhAbilItiON INto SoCiETy?" I do, but I don't think a second chance and righting your wrongs should equal going straight back into your very influential position within a scene. There's so so so many options that Tim could have picked to prove he wants to right his wrongs. He just happened to choose the worst option and the one that really stands to benefit him more than those affected by his actions.

It's not even a PC/SJW thing wrt calling people out for AILD- straight up morally, supporting a dude whose success got so far to his head he put a hit on his wife is so sketchy on so many levels. Like you shouldn't not support AILD because someone on the internet told you, you shouldn't support them because humans should support other humans that place hits on their loved ones

    The Real Dirty Dan.

Definitely doesn't tell me they shouldn't receive support in 2019. It tells me a band that hasn't done as much would have a much harder time recovering the fans that moved on and having fans willing to give them a second chance.

What Tim did was awful. No way to sugarcoat it. He firmly admits what he did was wrong. He acknowledges that getting people to trust and support him is improbable after he tried to have someone's life ended. I have a lot of family and friends that have made mistakes in their lives. Some mistakes worse than what Lamebesis did, some not. Years went by after they served time, and they've made steps to show they've changed. I'm open to Tim showing he's a changed man through actions and not just words. If his bandmates that struggled for years after his arrest can forgive him, then I (someone he didn't directly try to harm) should be able to as well. It'd be even harder for his ex-wife and children to ever forgive him; but that's all up to them if they want to make that choice one day.

If you don't wanna support the band through money, going to shows, or listening to the material, that's your decision. But the virtue signaling and holier-than-thou attitudes that some people have in this forum gets old sometimes. If every person in this thread had every action in their life scrutinized, few would have room to talk about not allowing others second chances. And I don't just mean trying to put a hit out on someone...

AILD was a big influence on me in high school; I look forward to seeing Tim using his platform for good, and seeing if their music can help me through dark shit down the road. A lot of metalcore bands have done that for me.

There's this distinct "yeah that song will loop on octane tomorrow" sound that's been plaguing metalcore for the past few years and almost every band signed to rise jumps for it. Of mice and men is the prime example of this sharp decline, they were getting close to playing small arenas and now they can barely fill 500 cap rooms because they're just getting lazier and lazier with this sound. Not that I think it's always all that bad, but its a shame to see metalcore fall in the same copy paste rabbit hole that pop punk is just slowly getting out of right now. With me writing this I recognize some cool guy will respond with a "lol they both suck" and I accept that

please tell me what actions you consider on the same level of attempting to hire a hitman when talking about people not having room to talk. your reality sounds completely warped.

if tim did not speak to a cop and spoke to who he wanted to, that woman would no longer be on this earth and their children would be without a mother. do you realize the insane difference in scope between that and like, a band using a slur six years ago? the way you speak about it communicates you don't. tim didn't make a fucking mistake, he's paying the price for his actions and barely takes responsibility ("that was the OLD me"). He's a fucking narcissist and it's clear as day to anybody who isn't morally bankrupt.

He's a coward. His bandmates are cowards. Anybody who shows up to see AILD is a fucking coward. look up to someone not in a band.

Nah. You hit the nail on the head with this one. Blessthefall, The Word Alive, Miss May I, Memphis May Fire, Of Mice & Men, and so many others had the same thing happen. Everything began to sound the same, they all started opening for radio rock acts on big tours while not faring too well on headlining runs anymore. Pretty sad when thinking about the success the same bands were having just a few years ago.

Imagine “they’re my favorite band” being justification for supporting an absolute piece of human trash. Fuck Tim, he doesn’t deserve his platform back and never will.

  15. Yup. Whether people like it or not, it's bigger than him and even his family/the woman he tried to have murdered. The implications of him being given back his platform so rapidly and readily extends to every single survivor of domestic violence - which this unequivocally was, regardless of if he ever laid a finger on her.

Its interesting because bands I never thought would surpass the success of those bands are finally getting the recognition they deserve because they were consistently making moves to improve the band. Everytime I die, senses fail, and dance gavin dance are having some of the biggest moments in their careers right now, and they've all been around for 10+ years. Definitely need to take notes from those bands

Dance Gavin Dance's currently popularity is so strange to me. Don't get me wrong cause I love them and they've been working so hard but I never thought it'd happen

My two favorite bands are dance gavin dance and the Maine right now, and I can't help but compare the two. They both kind of understand their die hard fanbase, and super serve them with the things their fans want. Festivals with acts the fans love, interacting with their fan base frequently, and putting out the albums the fans did not know they needed 2 album cycles in a row. They both understand that you don't really need a million fans, just 2000 fans that'll follow you everywhere. I think it's a great way to model a band and hope to see more of that coming from this scene in the future

    The Real Dirty Dan.

You're proving my point from my third paragraph, but alright.

I'm not dismissing how serious hiring a hitman is to commit a murder. I'm suggesting that if each person's actions that they've committed (whether you're 15, 27, 39, 66, whatever) were written down that have harmed another person in some capacity, everyone in this forum has something on them whether they wanna take responsibility for it or not. My reality isn't warped. I just tend to think differently than a lot of people in this forum and that causes lots of offense and frustration.

Yes. I do recognize the difference between trying to a hitman and using an insensitive slur. I've been on the receiving end of many slurs given my skin color and my outspoken support of non-heterosexual friends. I'm super curious though if you know what a narcissist is. A narcissist wouldn't admit wrongdoings or acknowledge the good qualities of other people around them. Tim's been doing both.

I've been disappointed by a lot of people I've looked up to. Reality is, he's out of prison now, and working to be a better human being with his time on Earth. I hope he continues.

Call me a coward all you want. I've been called worse things than that and it's made me more thick-skinned than others.

Another part to me is that so many fans that followed them 10-15 years ago (including Senses Fail and Coheed & Cambria in this) are older and can afford traveling several hours away to go see them and love the material they're putting out nowadays.

Why can’t you move the Tim conversation to the accountability in music thread instead of trashing the tour speculation thread

Someone is seemingly required to bring up moral, political and ethical issues in the scene in this forum every 3-5 business days. Then the people who tend to have different perspectives come out and someone shouts "CAN WE JUST MOVE ON?!"

But anywho, I hope ADTR isn't the pop punk band breaking up, and I hope they play in NC.
