been watching almost nothing but horror recently and have seen a few gems - the one that i think is most crucial to see ASAP is Narciso Ibáñez Serrador's Who Can Kill a Child? - it's near perfect, i'd say, and the only horror movie in a really really long time to genuinely frighten me.

I don't remember the dialogue being a hang up for me on the first film.
Even with what I thought were flaws, I completely agree with you. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Serviceable horror that is still a significant step above a majority of major studio releases.

Conjuring is right up there with The Witch for me as best horror in recent history. I'm just really sensitive to dialogue and I get bored if people talk for like 2 minutes straight. It's more me than it is the film lol.

Hahaha. Crazy story. His buddy stole the corpse from the hospital he was transported to.

Getting back to my horror movie roots. Watched a few recently.

The Witch - liked it a lot. Nice payoff.

found. - pretty bad acting, but the end was cool.

10 Cloverfield Lane - not sure if it's considered "horror" but I just really liked it and was pleasantly surprised.

Hush - really enjoyed the fresh take on the home invasion genre.

Conjuring 2 was good outside of the real sappy love shit that totally took me out of it, was disappointed in the ending but a totally serviceable horror movie overall

  9. I actually enjoyed the romance aspect, I thought it added dimension to the film

Yea, the light hearted parts were fun. Ed singing the Elvis song was great.

The light hearted parts freaked me out too cause I've been conditioned by cheap jump scares to trust no moment!! When he was singing I was like bracing for a demon to come ruin it lol

I'm not sure why people are so bothered that more than one thing happened in this movie

  13. Yeah, I mean it was a good movie but remove the romantic aspect and it's really just a two hour montage of loosely strung together jump scares haha

I liked that the movie centered around Lorraine and her faith with the manifestation of the demon nun and also Ed and Lorraine exploring the faith and trust they have in each other and how they work together. So I don't think the romance scenes were out of place in that sense. This movie was like an onion, y'all!!!

all I could think about when watching the Conjuring 1+2 is how wrapped up in each others drama ed and lorraine are.

See, my problem with Conjuring 1 was that it tried to be multiple things in one movie. It was a haunted house piece, it was an Exorcist ripoff, whatever that bit was with the doll, and all the rest of the minor drama stuff, all in one movie. It was distracting really and made me appreciate it less. That and you could clearly realize that they were trying to make the beginning of a franchise with it the whole time, which I didn't really like much.

I'll admit now that I'm basing this off the only time I saw it, which was two years ago. I'd probably have a more informed opinion of it if I watched it now.

How you remembered all that after two years is beyond me, haha. I saw it when it came out on DVD and by last fall I couldn't remember a single thing about it

The worst thing about it was the exorcism, which was just so derivative and played out. Everything before that was solid
