I don't watch any of the comic stuff usually like marvel or whatever but I watched this cause I trust gerard and I def like it so far. It has sort of a dark quirky sense of humor and style. I like that it has strong female characters and women in high positions of power. It's not like women running in spandex and high heels. It's interesting to me how each character navigates their trauma and superpowers. I've seen some sections of the internet complain about the lack of female characters but idk I have been impressed with it so far on that front. The ladies are all my fave. The members of the academy feel fleshed out and unique to me so far which I enjoy. Like I thought Klaus might end up kinda cliche but he's actually v heartbreaking and interesting to me rn. It's like each character represents their own perspective of trauma and grief to relate to. I've also seen complaints about the pacing, but I also enjoy that aspect. I enjoy watching the characters get fleshed out and have development and understand them more, and I feel like we get answers to some mysteries while more enfold so I'm kept engaged

Klaus's arc is so good. At first I was a little nervous they might be glorifying drug addiction but they ended up handling him very well, especially the traumatic moment he has in the past with Dave. Such great acting. It's really impressive how he can go from completely hilarious to the most heart-wrenching character.

Started watching One Day at a Time last week. Highly recommend watching it. Hilarious show that also incorporates topics like sexism, immigration, mental health, and sexuality into the episodes which is great to see especially in the times we are in now

Idk how similar Klaus is to the comics but I wonder if it's handled so well due to Gerard's own history of addiction. I'm not an addict so I can't say first-hand how accurate it is, but I am enjoying the character and his development a lot. His superpower is so interesting to me. I'm not done yet, his arc has been great and haunting. the time travel stuff and him going thru war and losing a love and then coming back to the present and dealing with it all has been rly chilling to watch. I'm so intrigued to see how his powers develop

I'd say it's actually handled better in the show than in the comics, although the latest volume seems to definitely be diving into how harmful it is to him which is good. It's kind of something just mentioned in passing in the other two volumes, I believe. His addiction in the comics doesn't really prevent his powers from working, either. He has a few extra powers up his sleeves in the comics too :).

I'm also not an addict either, so I also can't really fully speak too much to the accuracy, but I've had family members and close friends who have or continue to struggle with it. I definitely don't want to seem like I'm speaking for someone who has experienced it either and hope I don't come across that way to anyone :)

Ok I finished the rest of umbrella Academy and I have thoughts. Ontd seems pretty negative about the show and my opinions usually align with the hive mind lol so it's interesting. I've seen criticisms that the women had nothing to do but I feel like women were the most Central to the story. Like Allison is clearly the only one going about Vanya the right way and if the men would just listen to her, things would've worked out much better instead of the men making it worse. If that's not realistic af idk what is! Luther was prob my least fave. I got his sense of betrayal for being sent to the Moon for no reason and being misled and used, but the way he treated the others and disregarded their feelings wasn't cute. I was also confused cause in the beginning I pegged Vanya and five as being close. He seemed concerned about her and he slept over at her apt and they seemed caring, but then that disappeared for the rest of the series. I also don't know why Diego didn't tell the truth about deprogramming mom? He was clearly the most bonded and defensive of her so I don't think they'd have questioned his motives? I also didn't know why he deprogrammed her instead of fixing her like pogo.
Hyped for season two! The music choices were also so much fun.

Friends From College got cancelled and I’m kinda bummed. Second season was much better than the first and they didn’t really get to wrap up anything.

Eh, I guess so. If that's the case, then the quality of the criticisms match up to the quality of the movie, lol

I always assumed that The Dirt was just going to focus on Tommy Lee, considering all the publicity I've read about MGK portraying Tommy Lee made it sound like it was more of an individual biopic, but clearly, this isn't that.

Does anyone else not really care about Motley Crue and their hijinks? They seem like the typical 80's dickheads.

i assume that every band in the 80's did what they did, maybe one or two less deaths, so i never really felt like they were doing anything "special" or unique or something that should be praised or talked about like they were visionaries or whatever it is that keeps getting them brought up 30 years later

Yep, they don't seem to stand out for me in any way really.

And yeah, dickheads and their life can be made into great movies (The Wolf of Wall Street) but I doubt Jeff Tremaine is capable of doing anything close to that.

Although, I do love the Jackass movies...
