I think anything Tom has done post the Love albums has been much better than anything Mark or Travis have done post Tom era. California, Simple Creatures, Steve Aoki

 

WDNTW didn't age well, iEmpire (how it should have been stylized) is my favorite AvA record, I actually really enjoy the Love albums. I think if I smoked weed I would like them even more! The dream walker is fucking unlistenable. I like the Diary song from that one EP and I liked Chasing Shadows. the other one is so forgettable I can't even remember the name. There were 2 post-DW EPs right? Man, i never thought I would get to the point where I didn't have an encyclopedic knowledge of all things blink and blink related but I just can't care about anything Tom does these days.

 

I know this all subjective but hard disagree. I find California, Simple Creatures(which is only one song at the moment) and Cali Dx a lot more interesting than anything Tom has done From love and beyond.

 

My experience was mostly the same. Didn't really like the change in style after blink, but when I-Empire came out I decided to give the two albums a try. I found some redeeming qualities in a good chunk of the songs and warmed up to them, but I still skipped over quite a few tracks. I also liked a bit of Love Pt. I, but it was too much of the same and I was way too burnt out at that point. Even the songs I liked used a ton of rehashed riffs and melodies (sometimes note-for-note). I didn't even give Love Pt. II a listen.

As far as replay value, I actually dig The Dream Walker the most if only because it was finally a change in direction. It's the only stuff I ever go back to, if at all.

Overall at this point, I'm more indifferent to the stuff he puts out and if I hear something I like by him, I'm pleasantly surprised and will give it a listen.

 

Angels & Airwaves has a couple moments that are about as good (or close to as good) as the best moments of post-reunion blink. I think Cynical, After Midnight, and Sober are my favorite post-reunion blink songs and I think I like them more than any AVA but I don’t think California blows I-Empire or WDNTW out of the water or anything. They’re all halfway decent albums with some bright spots.

When Your Heart Stops Beating, on the other hand, does blow all those other albums out of the water.

 

The fans being upset about 5SOS opening up for Chainsmokers on their US tour is funny.

It reminds me of time. You know...like when Green Day opened for Blink. Hahah.

EDIT: I had no idea Chainsmokers were seen as racists and homophobes. Now i see what the big fuss is.

The chasm separating great Angels & Airwaves songs from the abysmal ones is so large it's insane.

I threw on Love Pt 1 & 2 and was amazed at how much I was skipping, but how much I loved what I let play.

This is coming from someone who's band played "The Adventure" for their middle school talent show.

 

I admittedly haven't listened in a while, but I remember Love 1 being my second fav after the debut. Ok I'll have revisit the discography soon

 

Dream Walker is the closest thing AVA has to a great album but it’s weighed down by the awful production and like 1 filler song. If I ever have 40 minutes to an hour of time to listen to music, AVA will never be my first choice lol
