I'm not surprised either. I would say though that with Deadpool being the smash hit it was and BVS: DoF not only being commercially successful, but also having an R rated Blu-Ray release, it's not crazy to wonder if this might've gotten an R rating. Not to mention the material they're working with. (more specifically the Joker and HQ storylines)

BVS barely broke even from what I've read

Yeah BvS was a box office disappointment. It did okayyyyyy-ish, far from the smash hit they wanted.

Disappointed with the rating. But whatever.

No way this was ever getting a theatrical R rating.

I could see DC in general just doing PG-13 theatrical releases, with an R rated cut on Blu-Ray.

Not including pre-2000 films, DC doesn't have very many live action movies. They can't afford an R-rating right now. Marvel is spitting them out so they didn't have as much of a risk with Deadpool.

This movie is also reliant on merchandise, so many Harley Quinn costumes this year

I disagree. Fox has a pretty bad record with their Marvel films. The biggest reason Deadpool was a win was because of amazing marketing, a charismatic, passionate lead, and an enjoyable script. I don't think those are too much to ask for.

Deadpool was super low budget though, and took a lot of lobbying to actually get it made.

I know they wanted at least $1 billion+, but $872 million is barely breaking even? Damn. I figured they had to have spent a shitload on marketing.

What I read was they spent more in marketing then the film budget

Not surprising its pg13 by any means but having just read a shitload of the comics it's definitely disappointing

If the Joker's entrance is to "Without Me" I might hurl in the theater

This would be awful. My guess is it's going to be for a montage of the squad gearing up or something along those lines.

  21. I really hope this is an Almost Alice situation where the songs aren't actually in the movie.

  22. Judging from that list of songs (and, you know, everything else we've seen), should we expect a certain level of camp from the film?

Still very excited for this, but the posters and soundtrack too have me feeling like this is gonna be a bit too cartoonish. Hoping i'm wrong. Could just be an attempt to make the movie look more approachable.

I'm confident that I'll love it, I just feel like maybe it will go a little overboard with tackiness.
